    Totally hot for hope

The lovely Tamika (Shop Socials) is hosting her first fundraising event this weekend, and we are so excited, not to mention totally proud of her. What do you have to do to attend? Register.

The $30 registration fee allows you 30 wonderful minutes of Ganbanyoku, traditional hot rock bathing therapy, complimentary refreshments, skincare treatments, makeup touch-ups, and a “hefty bag of goodies”. You also have the opportunity to bid on a number of stylish silent auction items that have been donated by local designers and businesses. The space is limited to just 60 ladies, so act QUICK! 100% of the proceeds for the evening will be going to the Canadian Red Cross.

More event and registration info here.

Thanks for sharing this with us Tamika 🙂

    peace, love and health

    She’s a BUSINESS woman

I recently had the pleasure of spending the day with Toronto-based jewellery designers, Shah Emily Noaman.  I had no idea what I was in for when we set this up, but damn! This woman is an inspiration and half, I left feeling like there’s nothing I can’t do… unfortunately, now I want to do everything lol.

While I was there, I was treated to a preview of the 3SHAHS Spring/Summer 11 collection, “Venus Upon Havana” which features pieces that were inspired by a recent trip to Cuba. The collection will be available at the end of this month at her store- Bask Tanning and Boutique at 1365 Yonge Street, as well as other retailers in the GTA.

Wanna know why I enjoyed spending the day with her? Because she’s totally awesome. Great personality, so much passion, AND because she let me play with all the jewellery till my heart’s content! You can see that she has a wicked eye for detail as every piece features something cute and unique, not to mention the endless splashes of bright colours! Win and Win.

The spring collection features bold patterns, a vibrant selection of rings, bracelets, necklaces, cocktail rings, earrings, in lovely shades of terracotta, aqua and mocha, sage. Each piece features a hand-selected semi-precious stones, fresh water pearls, and mixed metals. For those of us who love putting flowers in our hair, this collection offers a wonderful selection of seductive floral accents.

Here’s a sneak peek at the collection.

I’m totally ready the Gems in The City fundraiser; food, drinks, live music, a fashion show and silent auction, to celebrate the “Venus Upon Havana” collection. I’m there. All this goodness and more, will be happening at Nyood Restaurant on Wednesday April 27th. Proceeds from the event will be going towards the WoodGreen Housing Help Centre.

Thanks to Shah Emily for allowing me to get lost in her lovely world, I had so much fun.

    peace, love and health

    #SheTheISH ~ Heidi Klum

Randomly came across this image of Heidi Klum’s tattoo.

First, let me say that I love that she & Seal have what seems like such a ‘beautiful romance’ of a marriage. Biracial couple, clear of media exploits, with their beautiful children. Looking as good and as fresh as they (most likely) feel.

Anyways, this tattoo just ads to the beauty of them… her tattoo for Seal, and mention to their three little stars! (4 now!)

    Meeting Sister Souljah

“We love her, we have been loving her!”

For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you know that I have been sending out Tweets about Midnight and the Meaning of Love non-stop.  Amazing book and Sister Souljah is the truth.  The reason the story is so intriguing to me is because of the cross cultural references, interracial love, multi city adventures and dynamic personalities and strong women in every shape and sense.

Sister Souljah from heydoyou on Vimeo.

I use to think I was young Winter Santiaga, now I know im Chaisa Hiyoku Brown….  I also spectulate that Midnight is a Libra (such a level headed guy), Chaisa a Gemini (so vivacious) and Akemi a Pisces (such a dreamer) but that’s just me.   Here is Souljah and her team.

I took the train across the ways to Newark Public Library to listen to Sister Souljah talk and do her book signing.  She is gracious, sparkling and exactly how I imagined. I was so happy to be there and see a room filled with people who also love and read Sister Souljah.  The gift of storytelling. Amazing.  Here is what some of her fans has to say.
