Café Coyote working hard to keep people employed Now enjoy their signature dishes and margaritas for Pickup and Delivery

In accordance with orders from California Governor Gavin Newsom and San Diego Health Officials, Café Coyote in Old Town has closed operations for dine in service; however, San Diegans should be aware that their favorite Mexican restaurant is still open for takeout and delivery food orders, is still selling gift cards for future use and, as of today, is selling beer, wine and famous margaritas to go and delivery!
For over 30 years, Café Coyote has remained one of San Diego’s landmark restaurants and must-visit businesses. Located in the heart of Old Town San Diego’s Historic Walking District and voted Best Mexican Restaurant 18 years in a row, patrons have grown to know and love the friendly staff, festive atmosphere and delicious Mexican food. A highlight of most visits often includes a visit to the Mexican Tortilla Ladies making fresh tortillas the traditional way “a mano” (by hand) and a Fresh Frosty Margarita prepared by Master Bartenders and featuring a selection of over 100 tequilas. Now those same beloved margaritas as well as 6-packs of beer and Rancho Coyote Vineyard wine bottles, will be available to loyal patrons for pick-up.
In an effort to support the California alcoholic beverage industry at large, an industry that will suffer significantly from forced closures and stay-at-home regulations, a temporary suspension specific legal prohibition has been put in place, beginning Friday, March 20th, permitting bars and restaurants to serve alcohol to customers on a takeout basis. This regulation will allow businesses like Café Coyote to service the community, pay rent and keep staff employed as we all navigate uncertain times and changes with how we live our daily lives.
Social distancing, shelter in place, and stay at home orders are evolving systems, but Café Coyote stays consistent in their commitment to serve the community in every way possible and is adjusting quickly to the changing landscape of restaurant operations. While you cannot currently enjoy the festive setting of the esplanade and splashing fountains at Café Coyote for dining in, you can expect to pick up curbside the same amazing flavors of food and drinks to enjoy in your home.
