GENTLE BARN ANIMALS NEED HAY, HEALTHCARE AND MORE: “Spring” for a good cause during non-profit’s most costly season

The Gentle Barn, a national non-profit animal sanctuary, has launched its annual Hay & Animal Care Campaign, a program designed to generate funds for the many needs of the 200 rescued animals the non-profit organization houses and cares for.

“The health and welfare of our animals is a year-round financial challenge,” said Jay Weiner, Co-founder of The Gentle Barn. “We developed this program to let animal lovers help in very tangible ways, both big and small.”

Grass hay is used both for feeding, snacking on and in some cases for bedding as well. “A month’s supply of hay costs $10,000, and we so appreciate any and all contributions to keep our animals’ bellies full of rich, organic nutrients,” says Weiner. “But the care of our resident animals goes far beyond food and water. To live full, healthy, loved lives, they also need grooming and shearing, dental care and vaccinations, hoof trims, fly masks and spray, veterinary support, deworming and more.”

In order to engage the community, The Gentle Barn has created a tiered donation structure allowing everyone to contribute according to their budget and interests. Here are just a few options, although any donation amount is welcome.

$25 – Bale of hay
$250 – Basic vet visit
$1,000 – Produce for the animals for a month
$2,500 – Hoof care for all cows
$10,000 – A full truckload of hay
