    (T.O.) A toast to YOU

“… a quality, great tasting and affordable wine that brings fun and enjoyment to people from all around the world on any occassion.”-John Casella
    John and I

A couple days ago I attended an intimate wine tasting event, hosted by Yellowtail Wine and Harbinger Ideas. There was tonnes of food and of course LOTS of wine…GOOD wine. Managing Director John Casella of Casella Wines, was there to give us some background info on Yellowtail wines, and he also treated us to some interesting and touching stories.

“By combining the passion of his Italian winemaking heritage with a relaxed Australian attitude, John produces great wines that are extremely accessible and appeal to all people.”-Harbinger Ideas.
So what’s the deal with Yellowtail? Well John grew up at the family winery in a small-town in Australia, he then pursued his wine-making education, worked as winery manager for Riverina Estate Wines, and finally joined the family business becoming Managing Director of Casella Wines. This is when the highly successful yellow tail brand came to life!
John says he prefers not to give wine pairing advice as he believes Yellowtail wines are perfect for any dish and any occasion. I love that! I believe you should be able to pour yourself a glass and just enjoy it without worrying about all the other stuff…However, if you REALLY want some wine pairing advice, he’s more than happy to give it to you!
Renowned sommelier Zoltan Szabo (far right) was there to show his support for Yellowtail Wines.

Even though I couldn’t eat it, that didn’t stop me from admiring the food with my camera 🙂
Yellowtail wines have won numerous awards, and they continue to become a favorite with wine lovers everywhere… I totally understand why. I’m not a big wine drinker, but I drank me some wine on this day!
Yellowtail wines are easy and so enjoyable to drink; I usually prefer white wines, but this time around the Yellowtail Reserve Shiraz (Fruit flavours of cherry, some dark chocolate, spice and a hint of cracked pepper *yummy*) was my favorite, with the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon following closely behind.
“From humble beginnings as a family winery to one of the world’s most recognisable wine brands, we haven’t lost sight of where we came from.”-Yellowtail Wines
It was an afternoon of good talks, an abundance of shared wine knowledge, and of course GREAT wine. For my wine lovers, I have some good video footage, and will upload them as soon as possible for your viewing pleasure.
