Calling all fashion lovers, amateur designers, design students, and D.I.Y. fanatics! Rowenta- the leading manufacturer of high-performance steam irons, steam stations and garment steamers has teamed with with Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and is running an exciting Social Media Contest via Facebook for members of the fashion community as a prelude to Fashion Week in September. The competition run until August 20th, and all you have to do to participate is allow your creativity to flourish and upload a photo of your best D.I.Y fashion design or an original design sketch highlighting fabric manipulation techniques as a result of using an iron. Two winners will be chosen by D.I.Y. expert Jenni Radosevich and Fashion Designer Althea Harper, and will be invited to attend a fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

Here’s a D.I.Y. project I worked on a while back. Even though there wasn’t any crazy fabric manipulation, I did have to iron each and every piece of fabric so that it would stick to the shoes perfectly, so I think that counts… right? lolIf you’re a D.I.Y expert or you’ve always wanted to attend Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, I would totally recommend participating!
