Lab B — a taste of Taiwan in New York City!

From the organizer that brought the first ever Bubble Tea Festival last year that drew thousands to Times Square, they have teamed up with The Taiwanese collective to create an immersive, multimedia exhibition called Lab B to explore Taiwan’s most popular culinary export, bubble tea–the sweet tea drink studded with bouncy tapioca balls that fans slurp up through famously oversized, technicolor straws. Lab B as part fun house, part exhibition and part tea shop and will open in SoHo August 17, 2018 on 107 Grand Street, New York. The opening party was held on Friday, August 17 from 7:00- 9:00 P.M.

The exhibition features a tasting journey with an in depth look into the history of bubble tea and offer tastings from some of New York’s finest boba shops. In the lab you’ll experiment with different ingredients to create your very own, bubble tea concoction. There will be experts on hand to give you insights on the history of bubble tea, so that you can create a unique recipe all your own, a one of a kind drink made to your own slurpy, sweet and chewy specifications.

Lab B is brought by a collective of Taiwanese artist, writers and designers inspired by the chaos of New York—the busted trains, the muggy alleyways, and the chatter of the world’s languages bumping against each other.

Bubble Tea is uniquely Taiwanese, and represents the spirit of experimentation. What started as a simple combination of tea, milk, and tapioca, has morphed into hundreds of variations from Taipei to Kansas City. Lab B is created to amplify the mark that Taiwan is leaving on this crazy city, and mingle the senses and allow for the viewers’ unique self-expression through exploration of the wild world of bubble tea.
You can experience:

Date: August 17th through 19th, 2018
Address: SOHO 107 Grand Street, New York

Celebrate Bar Pa Tea One Year Anniversary With Lulu’s Art

To commemorate its first anniversary, Bar Pa Tea is collaborating with artist Yueming Lulu Qu on an art series titled “Celebrate.” Inspired by Bar Pa Tea and its home city, the pieces feature New York’s diverse personalities through its distinct inhabitants and iconic landmarks, unified by their shared penchant for constant reinvention and, of course, bubble tea.

Here are some photos of the One Year Anniversary Celebration Night at July 26th!

ABOUT YUEMING LULU QU
Art, fashion, passion, love, food, multi-cultural melting pot…this is how we often describe our city, no? Our city has millions of stories going on within every block every day. Don’t you agree we are so lucky to live in an amazing city that brings so many inspirations? I do.
Four years ago, I moved from Beijing for graduate study at Fashion Institute of Technology; this accounts for my second MFA – if there were such a thing as a PHD in Illustration I would pursue it. My first was an MFA in traditional Chinese Painting from Central Academy of Fine Arts. For Chinese painting, I use ink, gouache and soft brushes, which I still use in my current illustrations. Similar to how America brings all cultures together, I use traditional Chinese painting methods to illustrate New York City’s modern topics; predominantly fashion lifestyles and our beloved city landscapes. I think of fashion lifestyle as not only about high fashion during certain weeks, but more importantly about anyone who loves their life with a sense of pride. They are positive, they are kind, they are beautiful inside out, they are bravely chasing their dreams, and of course they have their own unique fashion styles.

Ice Cream Pumps
I went to Destiny in Richmond Hill with Janice and Julian last week for some Strawberry French toast, Pineapple bubble tea and some quality time. This place is pretty cool. You should go check it out.
“Destiny Business Corporation has combined the elements of club and entertainment into dinning place to convey the message of New Orient Environment, which demonstrates the most fashionable style in young generation from Asian countries. Elegant environments, innovative food, traditional Taiwanese food connected to Japanese food have created our difference from others. Our professional staff makes the tea and drinks healthy and special.”
YUM
They also have all these cool looking drinks that I LOVE. It’s so hard to choose just one. They have all kinds of shakes – not just Vanilla, Chocolate & Strawberry! And then, if that doesn’t impress you, Destiny also has all types of exotic sodas, tea concoctions, jellies, beans, ice cream, cakes and all sorts of yummy-ness.
What an adventure for the senses. Then I saw these:
