Matchstik
Matchstik is an artist with an interesting story and lots to talk about. He is an Aquarius based in Los Angeles. Aquarians born on February 4 are intelligent and quirky and can give the impression of being “airheads”; in reality they are more practical than they seem. They are inspired by what can be achieved through hard work. They have enormous self-discipline and can be extremely austere when it comes to cutting unnecessary encumbrances. Matchy is that and more.
Matchstik’s remarkable song writing abilities earn him 4 out of 5 stars on DjBooth.net for his infectiously catchy single. “Surina’ Song ft Foreword” which he wrote and recorded him self in his studio apartment while living in Los Angeles, CA which caught the ear of London’s award winning and 2x MOBO award nominee Dj Masterstepz who was nominated best club and radio Dj in 2008 (Mobo Awards) broke the record in London during his famous radio show “Masterstepz” on Choice Fm London’s number one radio station.
Matchstik was also featured on Rapmusic.com which is the largest Hip Hop forum on the web, Myxer dot com, a leading ring-tone website with over 16 million users, His songs “It’s Ok” and “I’m So Fly ft Jaz” was featured on two episodes of the Fox Reality show “Amazing Adventures Of A Nobody” and ultimately, he was featured on Canada’s number one celebrity blog isthishappening.com.
Allen Forrest better known as Matchstik is the Founder of Popinfluence.com. Being the maverick that Allen Forrest has always been. Allen Forrest is one to watch as he heads quickly to super stardom as one of music biggest star.
Look out for Matchstik in next month’s Billboard magazine.

200 words on Foreign Exchange

Guest Blogger. That GuyLeaving it All Behind is a great title and Nicolay decides to remind us what the first album sounds like with this clever atmospheric intro that picks up from where Foreign Exchange left off. This project is very smooth. Nicolay out did himself on this one, the Foreign Exchange sound is complete and official. Soulfully melodic, true to the heart, just a rap music master piece. Thanks for the Trumpet on ‘Take Off the Blues’ Stan Graham.
This time Foreign Exchange provides two master pieces to their album when you purchase it. Yes the instrumental version is included. Something for everyone, even for the DJ’s who don’t play vinyl anymore. It’s a beautiful touch because it’s the perfect Sunday album for the rap enthusiast. Vocally the arrangements are brilliant and Phonte’s authentic b-boy tone just ends up being the icing on the cake to this Nicolay instrumental enterprise. It would also be a sin for one not to mention the sultry romantic vocals of Darien Brockington. Although he has his own distinct sound like we heard on the first album, this time around I was constantly reminded of the sounds of Dwele, D’Angelo, and even Musiq all fused into this one Darien Brockington. If you haven’t heard him on any music yet now is the time.
If your energy is positive and authentic and you enjoy funk, jazz, rock, ambient, R&B and rap, then this album is truly for you. Cheers to Leaving it All Behind…The Foreign Exchange!
