    Twisted!

    I’m sooooo over braiding my hair, so I’ve been trying out different protective hair styles in order to find my go-to style for winter. I tried wearing bantu knots for the first time and they are super easy to do. However, I didn’t have the patience to wear my hair like that for more than a week… They HAD to go.
    So I tried twisting my hair and  was pleasantly surprised by how easy they are to do, and also  that they came out well. I can keep them in for than a week without getting bored, AND I can still co-wash and deep condition without having to take them out. Hassle-free. I think I’ve found my protective style for the rest of winter! WIN.

    peace and love

    @JaneCarter Solution Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner

    The more Jane Carter Solution hair products I try, the more I love them!  I’m already a big fan of their Nourish & Shine moisturizer and now I have another product to add to the list: Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner ($9).

    At first I was skeptical about what this product could do for me because I usually go for creamy leave-ins, but I decided to give it a go.  I was very happy with the results.  My hair was manageable throughout the styling process and the finished product looked fantastic.

    My hair was shiny and felt so moisturized!  My tresses had been a bit dry since I got them colored back in August, but it seemed like my hair had fully “recovered” from the dryness.  I wasn’t sure how much to use and ended up saturating my hair pretty thoroughly, but I didn’t have any build-up.  Once again, JCS succeeded in leaving me with moisturized, healthy hair without weighing down my fine strands!

    This is a great product for natural or relaxed hair.

    Shiny & moisturlicious!

    I am not my hair!

    Full, thick, dark and unruly… No, not me! My Hair!! This journey started at the age of 5; every 4 to 6 weeks my mother and I engaged in the war on kinky curls. The idea that my hair would be “better” straight seemed to sit well with everyone except for me. So my definition of “natural” was anything except extensions. Over the years I’ve done everything from braids to twists, short cuts to fauxhawks, colors to wigs you name it I’ve done it and all as an expression of me… But at some point in time I realized that I had become so obsessed with my hair (time, energy, money) that it had become a part-time job! Chris Rock released a film journaling a society’s definition and a woman’s obsession in the quest for “good hair”, I was sad to see so many thought negatively of natural hair, but September 18, 2009, I committed to the “big chop”, here I am 2 years later with no plans on going back to the “Hair Crack” and this has become the hair trend. So many women, Actress, Singers, and Models alike, have since decided to go natural and the journey has been a great one 🙂

    Here’s a few things I’ve learned: ladies, make sure you moisturize your hair! Especially if your coils are tight like mine. Don’t be afraid of it. Natural oils like jojoba, lavender, black olive are GREAT for your hair. You can never get too creative! Make sure to keep your hair in styles that are not damaging to your hair and follicles: minimize the use of heat and if you see the white bulbs on the tip of your hair strand, you’re pulling too tight. Last but not least: LOVE your natural! Try new ‘dos! dress it up! show it off! There is nothing I can’t do with my natural that I could do with my permed hair, but there is plenty that I do with my natural that I couldn’t do with my permed. I am not my hair, my hair is surely a reflection of me!

    Nourish & Shine by Jane Carter Solution

    Although I love experimenting with shampoos and conditioners, I am steadfastly devoted to about 2 or 3 leave-in hair products, none of which contain oils.  When I wear it flat-ironed, any oily product will leave my fine hair limp.  And whether straightened or curly, my biggest issue is that no matter how carefully I apply product just on the ends, it will inevitably migrate to my forehead and temples within minutes, creating a serious oil slick!!

    I decided to give Nourish & Shine ($22) by Jane Carter Solution a try because I recently had my hair colored and felt it needed a little extra moisture than my normal regimine provided.  This sample had just been sitting around awaiting my review, but ignored because of its seemingly oily nature.

    I never thought I’d be so impressed by a shea butter-based product!  Jane Carter Solution somehow succeeded in developing a product that provides intensive moisturizing benefits without the oily side effects.

    A little goes a long way with this delicately sweet-scented balm.  I used it on my hair both after flat-ironing it and after air-drying it. Each time my hair soaked up the moisture without being weighed down, sticky or oily.  The product can also be used to smooth dry skin, but my hair’s been too selfish to share!!

    P.S.  You’ll love the 100% natural list of ingredients: Shea butter, Kokum butter, Illippe butter, Mango butter, Vitamins A, D, & E, pear and grapefruit essential oils.
