My name is Neha Tuli and I am the Senior Beauty Buyer for Beauty Story. Beauty Story is premiere site dedicated to private beauty sales and fabulous editorial content. Think of it as the Gilt Group for Beauty. It only showcases luxury beauty brands, spas and salons. Some functions that I perform at my current position are sourcing new suppliers, developing new products, category strategy development, negotiating with vendors and constantly seeking innovative methods to grow the business of the company.
I have been in the Beauty Industry for 10+ years with companies like Henri Bendel, Sephora & Takashimaya in both buying and marketing roles. Its been a wonderful experience to be a part of this industry and I hope to continue in the beauty field for the rest of my career.
City you live in: I currently live in Jersey City, NJ but I have been in the NY/NJ area for the last 13 years.

What is the best advice you can give to a women who wants that corner office?
Make yourself visible and available to your superiors and people who have the power to make decisions. Work hard and know your business inside out. Be abreast of who your competitors are. Ask questions, don’t hesitate to present your ideas, if you run across a problem, try to find a solution before approaching your boss. React quickly, take initiative. Look at the long term picture.

What do you think is the key to being a successful woman in the beauty industry?
You have to love the beauty industry and have the passion for it. If you have that, you will succeed. I bought home first but really wanted to make the switch into cosmetics. I convinced Bendels to hire me solely because of my passion for beauty and I had no experience buying beauty before.
The Beauty Industry is so different and unique from other categories like apparel and accessories. You have to have great interpersonal and negotiating skills. It’s a tough industry but there is nothing as exciting as being in Beauty.
