AREA15 is turning up the volume on family fun this summer with their next Family Rave this Sunday, August 24 at 1 p.m. inside The Portal.
This daytime disco delivers the high-energy vibe of a rave—remixed for all ages. Think colorful lights, playful beats and an immersive atmosphere where kids, parents and even grandparents can dance together. Unlike a late-night rave, this experience is designed to be fun, safe and unforgettable for the whole crew.
We had no idea what to expect, but we came ready in all our neon gear!! We brought glow sticks, light up toys, glow face paint, nails and tattoos! This is not a typical glow party like you would find at Skyzone but a really cool ‘rave’ environment. My son is sensitive to loud noises, so I brought noise-cancelling headphones for him and LOOP earbuds for my self. We had a great time dancing with the kids, checking out the kid DJ and also all the merch they had for sale. In the craft rooms, the kids got to play lite bright in normal size and giantic and make fun things.
The upcoming dates will be Sundays – Sept 14, Oct 26, Nov 23, Dec 14
The kids were so excited to design and build an alter with the Tiny Hikes and Adventures friends this year at the Springs Preserve. Together with their mommies, were able to create elements of a traditional ofrenda through numerous arts and crafts. All the items were done by the children of Tiny Hikes and their families!First, check out the monarch butterflies made with paint, constructions paper, coffee filters, pipe cleaners and markers. Monarch butterflies are a common feature of Day of the Dead altars, or ofrendas, because they are believed to carry the spirits of the dead. Many indigenous cultures in Mexico believe that butterflies represent the souls of the deceased who return to visit their loved ones on Earth during Día de Muertos. The kids made over 300 butterflies! The judges love that the kids were able to learn about the cultural meaning of the Day of the Dead. We lost a few moms in the group these past years due to various reasons and we had to explain death to the children in an organic, meaningful and gentle way. People deal with loss in different ways and for us this was a good way to make sense of our tragic loss that hit so close to home. This EPIC skull pinata was made by Katy Briggs. Her artistry is unmatched and details of this sugar skull took hours of meticulous work. Sugar skulls represented a departed soul, had the name written on the forehead and was placed on the home ofrenda or gravestone to honor the return of a particular spirit. Sugar skull art reflects the folk art style of big happy smiles, colorful icing and sparkly tin and glittery adornments. The pinecones were painted as marigold flowers that are symbolic in a traditional ofrenda. Marigolds symbolize the brevity of life and are thought to guide the spirits of the dead back to their families. The children painted these in red, orange and yellow to represent this beautiful flower. The most popular marigold for ofrendas is the yellow marigold, also known as flor de cempasúchil. Other flowers that are sometimes used in ofrendas include: chrysanthemums and cockscomb The hand painted rocks that represented the food for the souls was my favorite part. The ‘pan’ or bread was so realistic and the vegetables added a colorful element to the artistic ofrenda. Big shout out to La Bonita who was one of the sponsors that made this festival possible! This is my mom’s all time favorite destination in Las Vegas and every Wednesday, this is were we stock up on fresh veggies and fruits.
One of the best tools we used in our production of this award winning ofrenda is glow in the dark glue sticks from SureBonder! These Glow-in-the-dark mini glue sticks can be used for, but not limited to, Halloween decorations, Halloween costumes, craft and art projects, school projects, or your own creative activity. If you are a serial crafter like me, you will know that a cordless glue gun is truly lifechanging! Thank you for sending this for us to test out!
With the past 2 years being so unpredictable and depressing, everyone is looking forward to what the new normal means. Even with changes in our society, one thing is undeniable – what is fun! The Big Bounce is all about good old inflatable fun. I think everyone of every age can agree that being a bounce house is FUN FUN FUN. Physically, when we are off balance, we have no choice but to laugh. We all take ourselves so seriously but in reality, we have very little control about what happens TO US. We only have the choice to react and respond in the way that makes sense to us. This is why we are so excited to finally be able to participate in the BIG BOUNCE when it come to Las Vegas, Craig Ranch Park.
The world’s biggest touring inflatable theme park! Currently touring the US & Canada delivering super-sized fun to a new city each weekend. There are different time slot for toddlers, kids, adults only and family times too. You can expect to spend about 3 hours there. We can’t wait to check it out!

Moms all know that there are ‘play clothes’ and there are ‘nice clothes’. We have an abundance of play clothes, often with stains or cracked images from the laundry that I now avoid large prints that I know will wear and tear. Once in a blue moon, you will find something that you can keep and love and hand off to cousins and friends.
This year’s Santa photos are different! They include a Santa behind a glass and talking to him thru a walkie-talkie! Niko got to wear this Feltman Brothers Soldier Knit Set for his Santa photo with his playgroup friends this week and he looked so cute! Not one of the toddlers cried so that’s a win in my books.
