Get saucy with it!  Enough Miley talk for me – if you want to get really saucy you have to try California brand Mia’s Kitchen. A real kick and a real game changed in the pasta sauce – It is awesome and it is totally fun!

An out of the box, quirky young woman from sonoma. Mia and her mother, Nancy, developed the mia’s kitchen brand to share the bounty of their italian culinary skills with cooks and “foodies” who have an appreciation of fine epicurean experiences with a casual twist and who enjoy “eating gourmet everyday.”

I enjoy eating gourmet everyday and definitely recommend that you give your Tortellini new life with Mia’s Kitchen.

    Pecans……Just Not Another Nut!

Ways to Incorporate Pecans into a Healthy Lifestyle

Pecans are easy to add to your eating plan; simply grab a handful!  Pecans are healthy and delicious, and just a one-ounce serving (15- 20 pecan halves) packs more than 19 vitamins and minerals, fiber and protein to keep you going.  They’re a perfect snack for both children and adults.    Often associated with indulgences and occasional treats, pecans can also be eaten in healthier forms and cooked or baked in a wide variety of foods to add flavor and nutrition.  Delicious recipes can be found or created using pecans for breakfast, salads, entrees and side dishes.

                                    Heart-Healthy Pecans

Nearly 60 percent of the fats in pecans are monounsaturated and another 30 percent are polyunsaturated, leaving very little saturated fat in pecans. The unsaturated fat in pecans is heart-healthy fat meeting the new Dietary Guidelines that recommend Americans keep intake between 20 and 35 percent of calories, with most fats coming from heart-healthy sources like fish, nuts and vegetable oils. In addition, pecans contain no trans fat.

                                   Nutrient-Dense Pecans

Pecans contain more than 19 vitamins and minerals – including vitamin A, vitamin E, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, several B vitamins and zinc. One ounce of pecans provides 10 percent of the recommended Daily Value for fiber. Pecans are also a natural, high-quality source of protein that contain very few carbohydrates and no cholesterol. Pecans are also naturally sodium-free, making them an excellent choice for those on a salt- or sodium-restricted diet.

    ck to basics…

I haven’t cooked properly in soooo long. I work with food so by the time I get home, I have no desire to cook. Add exhaustion from work and school to the mix, and I definitely have no intention of cooking when I get home. However, I was tired of eating Mr. Noodle every night and missed having a home cooked meal; so I decided it was time to step back into my kitchen. I was in the mood for something quick, easy and delicious.

Easy as one, two, three 🙂
I loving snacking on peppers, and I enjoy cooking with them even more! A little minced garlic and onion… *lips smacking* delicious!
    Your choice of pasta and…
Voila! A simple and easy pasta dish made in less than 20 minutes. Perfect for people that are always on the go, and still enjoy a delicious meal. Even though I used parmesan cheese, the alfredo sauce was made with soy milk. YUM!
    Happy Cooking!
    peace, love and health

    HCB #26: the randomness!

I had leftovers and I don’t like spending my hard earned dollars on groceries only to throw the shit out, just because I had ONE meal out of it! Soooooooo… I did what it do! YEAH!

I’m all over leafy greens, ADORE tomatoes, and kinda dig shrimp, so throw it all in a pot and…

I love cheesy pasta, but I gotta have my greens one way or another, and this worked really well!
    Happy Cooking!

    HCB#24: chow down!

Everyone loves pasta with a delicious tomato sauce (and if you don’t, you will after I cook for you), but instead of having a traditional tomato sauce, I wanted to step it up a tad 🙂
Crushing your garlic with the side of your knife, not only makes peeling the garlic like a million times easier, but it also allows the garlic to retain all it’s fa-lavor!!! (I know it’s spelled flavor geez! lol)

I started by sauteing the bacon (not supermarket bacon…from the butcher bacon), added my garlic/onion/ginger mixture, a little more magic and then boom! Sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on that mutha and we have a winner! This was really yummy!
    Happy Cookin lovelies!
