October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 1 in 8 women the U.S and 1 in 9 in Canada will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. It’s a terrible disease that affects the lives of those diagnosed, as well as their friends and families. This is the month that we really shine a light on breast cancer, the survivors, fighters, and victims, and the life-saving research that is taking place to fight it.
Companies across the country are donating proceeds from the purchase certain products toward breast cancer research. I wanted to highlight some of my favorite products:

Riedel Stemless Wine Glasses: 15% of all proceeds from these glasses to the support of breast cancer survivors
essie Breast Cancer Color Collection: A portion of the proceeds from the essie breast cancer awareness collection will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer
Ellie Shoes: 100% of proceeds will be donated to National Breast Cancer Coalition
The North Face – The North Face will make an annual donation to Boarding For Breast Cancer, a non-profit, education awareness foundation, to help support their journey to educate and inspire young adults
Movado Watch: Special Edition Breast Cancer Research Foundation – Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation
Graphic Tee from Footlocker – $5 goes to the American Cancer Society
Bicycle Playing Cards – $.15 from each deck of cards will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation
Cuisinart Pink Series Blender – By purchasing you are helping to fund the Breast Cancer Research Foundation
Betsey Johnson “I’m a Survivor” Charm Bracelet – A portion of the proceeds are donated to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer
Supporting companies that donate proceeds from the purchase of their products to various breast cancer organizations is a great way to help the cause. A more direct way to get involved is to join one of the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks that are going on around the country (U.S.) throughout the month of October.I will be walking in the Making Strides walk at Jones Beach on Long Island, NY on October 21. I’d love your support in my effort to raise funds for the walk. Please visit my Making Strides homepage if you’d like to donate (and share with a friend!).

Whole lotta pink @the3day – Breast Cancer Awareness
I’m not a huge fan of pink but last year in July I was around 3 days of full-blown PINK. I registered for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. It is a 60-mile walk over the course of 3 days and I decided to walk in Boston, MA, one of many cities to choose from.
Words can’t describe the unforgettable experience I had that summer as well as the previous year when I volunteered.
*I volunteered with two girlfriends who one of them lost their mom to breast cancer*You meet many people and share laughter and tears, unforgettable stories, both men and women who leave an imprint of what they have gone through.
There are so many little ways to make a difference, to change a person’s life, a friend’s life, or even a complete stranger’s life. The power that one can do with the decisions and choices they make is truly a gift.
*Cute signs along the way. There were a bunch of different pit stops and they each had a theme of some sort*
*Closing ceremony. Very moving and emotional and definitely a great feeling*I thought 60 miles was crazy but then when I saw the survivors walking 60 miles along with everything else they have been through, I knew I could do this. I knew those 60 miles and the yearlong fundraising I did would totally be worth it.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I know the 3-Day is something that someone has to put time into but it’s great how there are so many other things a person can do to be one step closer to finding a cure.
So many companies promote their products and donate those proceeds for research. Keep your eyes peeled and let us know what you do to make a difference. 🙂

Think Pink
So this past Thursday, after writing a gruelling Macroeconomics test, I attended Think Pink; an event held in support of Breast Cancer. It was really nice to see so many people come out and support for a great cause 🙂It’s important to raise the awareness of Breast Cancer, and what better way than to focus on the lighter and brighter side of breast cancer awareness by throwing a lovely fundraiser at the luxurious, spa inspired bar; C Lounge.
I was one of the lucky ladies wearing pink, to receive a pair of Jessica Simpson flip flops!! There so cute!!
There were plenty of give aways throughout the night from Franco Sarto, BCBG & Jessica Simpson; and a lot of ladies with huge smiles on their faces and shoes cradled in their arms!Day ended on a very positve note!Shout outs to everybody that came out and supported 🙂For more info on shoes like those at the give away and more!
