    Taste the Difference @PizzaLucaNYC

With this amazing weather this past week in New York, it is easy to think that next summer is just around the corner.  But it’s already October and I had the chance to meet the founder of Pizza Luca and taste his fresh pizza creations.

Pizza Luca: A rapidly expanding Pizza Napoletana catering truck company servicing the tri-state area.  Features a world-class menu and elite pizza only it comes to you courtesy of two unique and stunning trucks.

    • Dean Medico:  The Owner and French Culinary Institute trained Pizzaiolo.

    • “Miss Blue”: The first truck in the Pizza Luca stable — a 1952 flatbed truck in mint condition and boasts an outward facing wood burning oven.  Strictly does catering across the tri-state area, not a street vending truck.

    • “Miss Idaho”:  Launching in NYC this fall due to the demand from the first truck.  Was rescued from an Idaho farmer, the stunning truck is one-of-a-kind with an oven visible on both sides of the truck. Will do street vending as well as catering.

All ingredients are sourced from Naples and there are only four pies to choose from, authentic Pizza Napoletana, as governed by the Associzione Verace Pizza Napoletana.

    @VillageVoice’s #ChoiceStreets Recap

The weather took a break from being completely crappy for just a bit to welcome The Village Voice’s Choice Streets last Tuesday. Thank goodness, because the event was slated to happen, rain or shine!

We New Yorkers love our food trucks, and this was definitely a celebration of the food truck, with 20 trucks offering sample-sized items from their menus.

It was held at the Intrepid Air & Sea Museum, which has a scenic location on a pier on the Hudson River. The museum is actually a retired aircraft carrier with fighter jets and other aircraft (and now the space shuttle Enterprise) perched on top and around it.

Unique venues like this are one of the things I like most about Village Voice’s events. Previous events were held at an armory and an historic bank tower.

DJ Finger on the Pulse provided the soundtrack for the night. For $30 general admission and $50 VIP, this sold out event was a great deal.

Here are some of the highlights of Choice Streets.

A line had already formed 10 minutes before the doors opened!

From left: Bongo Brothers Cuban Food, Mexico Blvd, Solber Pupusas

From left: Valducci’s Original Pizza, Red Hook Lobster Pound, The King Falafel & Shawarma

Spicy Diablo hot dog from NYC Healthy Bites

VVeev, the world’s first acai spirit. They donate 1% of their sales to rain orest preservation.

    Taim Mobile

From the top: Frites ‘N’ Meats, Morris Grilled Cheese Truck

    Svedka

Choice Eats under the NY skyline

These tacos by Mexicue were especially tasty!

    Jägermeister

Apparently I’m not the only one who love this place! (Wafels & Dinges)

    Yum, Pisco cocktails!

    Funky tights!

This blew my mind! Bacon maple cupcake from Cupcake Crew. It was as good as it looks.

Ewwy, gooey steak & cheese sandwich from Phil’s Steaks

    Shock Top Beer

A beautiful night, but don’t let it fool you–it was cold and windy!

    @VillageVoice’s #ChoiceStreets

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Village Voices’s extraordinary beverage and culinary events. I’ve sampled craft beers at Brooklyn Pour, and most recently, nearly munched myself into a blissful coma at Choice Eats.

On Tuesday, I will be attending Choice Streets,Village Voice’s first annual food truck tasting event.

Every New Yorker has her favorite food truck. You know, the one that you stand in line for 20 minutes at without a care in the world, the one you’ll stalk on Twitter to see where its parked so that you can hunt it down and satisfy that craving? Well, that one, plus 20 others (for a total of 21!) will be gathered at Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum on Tuesday, April 24. This all means that next week, I am in for an unfathomably delicious experience!

I would tell you to run out and buy your ticket, but the event sold out in a record 5 days! So, what I will say is, make sure you stay tuned for my post-event coverage, and next year, be sure to purchase you ticket ASAP!

    This year’s food trucks:

    Bongo Brothers
    Chinese Mirch
    Coolhaus
    Cupcake Crew
    The Cinnamon Snail
    Frites ‘N’ Meats
    Green Pirate Juice Truck
    Kelvin Natural Slush Co.
    King of Falafel & Shawarma
    Korilla BBQ
    Mexico Blvd
    Mexicue
    Morris Grilled Cheese Truck
    NYC Healthy Bites
    Phil’s Steaks
    Red Hook Lobster Pound
    Solber Pupusas
    Souvlaki GR
    The Taim Mobile
    Valducci’s Original Pizza

*Wafels & Dinges‘ de bacon + syrup wafel is my ultimate food truck obsession. So happy they are on the list!

    MIGHTY CONE!!!!! Yezzziirrrr :) #SoGood

So over the summertime i created a challenge for myself that i would eat at most of the spots in Austin that are hot spots to eat at. So i know what your thinking “Out of all the restaurants in Austin how did you choose a place that served meals that came in this flimsy coned shape cup?” It is quite simple ‘literally’. For starters i walk up and noticed this trailer that is in a parking lot and thought to myself “This truck cant be bout nothin” then when i walk up and see how customers are just enjoying the hell out of these cone creations, OBVIOUSLY my curiosity starts to build.

As i walk up im noticing all the menu choices and have no idea
what to choose, so me bein me ima roll wit anything chicken ANY day the week homie :). So of course i chose the Chicken Avocado cone with a creamy spicy sauce, when i tell you this cone had everything i ever wanted in a meal! It hit EVERY TASTE BUD and executed very well.

If you are EVER in Austin, Mighty Cone is a a place you must stop at This place is a real treat in the Spring and Summer season, see ya there!!! 🙂
