Good Eats: Dinner, Lunch, Snacks with @gardein

PicsArt_1371513266746I can’t remember the last time I cooked, and I mean cooked, cooked. As in cooked a good meal. Ever since taking on a promotion, and another job, the only thing I have time for is sleep, and even then I don’t get much. So I’ve basically been living off of avocados (lots of avocados), cucumbers, the occasional Sullivan & Bleeker red velvet cookie, and these AMAZING new meatless products by Gardein that I recently discovered.

This was the first time I tried Gardein products, and it was a truly marvelous experience. I meant to take a picture, but I was so hungry, and had inhaled my food before I realized that I needed to take a picture… lol

Some of you know that I was vegetarian for a while, then I fell of the wagon (sh*t happens), but I recently went back to being a vegetarian at the beginning of April, and so far I’m loving it! I was a meat eater for the longest time, and I find that sometimes I crave the texture of meat, but not necessarily the meat itself, this is wear Gardein foods come in. They are meatless, a meaty texture, have lots of protein (Garden+Protein= Gardein), and they are DELICIOUS. Did I mention that they don’t take more than 8 minutes to prepare?? *does church dance* 20130417_221002

100 calories you say? And it tastes great? I’m in.20130427_214558

Oh… then I had these bad boys.

So delicious! (I like to eat my food out of tupperware, don’t judge me.)

I made a Chili with these: chopped them up, threw in some red kidney beans, mushrooms, and peppers, but they too didn’t make it to photo time, as my hunger got the best of me lol.20130427_214705

I can’t stress how good these Gardein meatless products are… they are SOOOOOO GOOD!20130429_203725

Praise the Lord, this was so good!20130430_194140

You think that they just look like they taste good… No, they taste Fantastic! This is one of my absolute favourites!20130430_194158

In addition to the ones above, I’ve had the sizzling szechuan beefless strips and the sweet and tangy barbecue wings, and I can’t wait to try EVERYTHING else that they offer. I’m still living off of lots of avocados and cucumbers, but these Gardein goodies have definitely brought the spark back into my dinners, lunches, and snacks!

    Dinner with @SkinnygirlCKTLS

After the Skinny Girl event we went home with a lovely bottle of Skinny Girl Sangria, and last night I was in the mood to put it to work. The Sangria and the veggie burger are total match made in heaven. T’was delicious!

    Magic Mushrooms

I’ve been eating A LOT of mushrooms lately, and couldn’t help but wonder if there were any health benefits associated with this yummy… fungi. Turns out all mushrooms are loaded with essential nutrients like selenium (good for the bladder), iron, antioxidants, vitamins B2 and B3, potassium, they also increase the production of antiviral and other proteins that help with repairing body tissues and enhancing the immune system.

I made a cheesy and delicious macaroni bake using the Parmigiano-Reggiano that was in the swag bags of the Loblaws event I went to recently… T’was GOOOOD.

The Trio de Chocolat and the Cheese & Black Pepper butter biscuits are the BUSINESS!

    Nom nom Vegetable Fried Rice

I love fried rice, but I hate that oily taste that take-out fried rice has. I was in the mood for a nice plate of vegetable fried rice, so rather than going to my favourite chinese restaurant;  I decided to  take matters into my own hands and make my own fried rice. I only used a teaspoon of sesame oil, and was able to fry all my rice and veggies; and then used a teaspoon of low-sodium soy sauce, because you can’t have fried rice without soy sauce!

All the taste, and half the fat and salt. Win.

    Soy GOOD

Lately I’ve been beyond lazy when it comes to cooking, and have been living off of oatmeal, cereal, and bagels. I needed to make things a little more exciting, so I bought some soy bites and made a DELICIOUS stir fry with green peppers, mushrooms, garlic and ginger.

Of course I HAD to have some steamed broccoli

    T’was such a good dinner.

    peace and love
