Cale Sampson at the #OccupyTO Protest

#OccupyTO is still in full affect and while they protest for a good cause the protesters were lucky to have this talent there to entertain them. Cale Sampson was broke down what the whol #occupyTO protest was about in his spoken words. What do you think of it?

Celebrity Fragrances! Love or Hate Them?

Does anyone walk into a Sephora or department store and when you walk past the fragrances, notice one and think, why does that name sound familiar? Is it because you’ve seen the name in a movie or heard it on the radio? For me, I see so many celebrities with fragrances! I personally don’t own one but I am curious if any of them are as good as their movies (or music) or if they’re just as bad…

    Here are a few:

    BeyonceHeat

It screams hot! I think I would like this one but it might be because I like Beyonce anyway! All the single ladies, would you turn up the heat with this?

    Justin BieberSomeday.

I don’t have Bieber Fever but he is such a heartthrob to so many people that I am curious if this is good. How old is he?

    Britney SpearsCosmic Radiance.

Hit me baby one more time! Spears has other fragrances on the market too so I feel like her fragrances are popular!

    Kim KardashianGold.

Keeping up with the Kardashians? It’s hard to do…I will say that this is a gorgeous bottle though!

Do you have a favorite? Or are you willing to try any of these or ones that I haven’t mentioned? Let us know! 🙂

    The @Singersroom Meet & Greet with @Lloyd_YG

I was thrilled when I learned that I had won a contest by Singersroom.com to be one of 25 people invited to attend a private meet & greet with R&B artist Lloyd.  I’ve always liked Lloyd’s music and “You” from his second album, Street Love, is easily one of my top 25 favorite songs.

It was great to learn that Lloyd was a very down-to-earth, sociable, genuine guy with a good head on his shoulders.  As soon as he came in, he began introducing himself and chit-chatting with each person in the room.  He took his time, asking questions and learning a bit about everyone.  Then he spoke to us about his challenges with staying focused and the importance of maintaining integrity and fighting your fears and doubts.

    Interesting Lloyd facts:

    • Frank Sinatra is one if his top 5 favorite artists
    • He’d love to have a child by the time he’s 30
    • Shakira is his favorite female artist
    • He always brings family on tour with him so he never gets lonely on the road
    • He’s over all the questions about Irv Gotti

I’ve never heard that name before, Lloyd tells me. Yeah I get that a lot!

    @Singersroom Acoustic Conversation with Tyrese

In late August, I had an Acoustic Conversation with R&B artist Joe.  Last week, in the latest installment of this very up-close and personal event by Singersroom.com, we were serenaded by none other than Tyrese!

After learning that we’d be “conversing” with Tyrese, I don’t think I could have hit send any quicker on my RSVP.  Tyrese’s music has been the melodic background to many a moment in my life since his debut album, Tyrese, in 1998. And even before he became a solo artist, who could forget him in the Coca-Cola commercial that launched his career?  Now, Tyrese has crossed over from R&B artist to mainstream actor, in movies like Baby Boy and, most recently, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Just in case you were wondering–Tyrese’s pearly whites and chocolate-tone skin are just as scrumptious in the flesh as on the big screen!  People peered in through the windows from outside BoConcept, where the event was held, just to get a glimpse of the artist.  And inside, many hearts were fluttering–especially as he performed one of his biggest hits, Sweet Lady. During the Q&A session, we got a glimpse of Tyrese’s charming, confident personality.

But wait, we don’t have to keep hitting rewind on our old favorites from Tyrese…November 1, 2011 is the release date for Open Invitation–his first album in 7 years!  Click here to see his new video from the album, Stay.

The @Oxymorrons Album Release with @Game_Rebellion

Alternative hip-hop band, The Oxymorrons, had a release party for their new mix tape, STFU & Listen, this past Friday at the Rocawear Showroom in Manhattan…and it was CRAZY!!  MTV’s Sway hosted the event and Game Rebellion performed an amazing opening act.

First of all, you may wonder, who are the Oxymorrons.  In their words:

“Imagine Run-DMC and the Beastie Boys had a musical love child, which was raised by Chuck Norris and went to school with Rob Zombie.  They are nothing like that. In a cookie cutter fad educed world of hip-hop, the Oxymorrons are breaking the mold on a daily basis. The dynamic duo of K.I and D create playful thought provoking melodies that define an era of hipster and cool nerds that aren’t afraid to embrace their inner ‘GEEK'”

And secondly, you may want to know who Game Rebellion is? Well, here is is:

“An all Black all outta Brooklyn band whose metal, punk and rudeboy skanking licks sound as credible and crunchy as their hiphop lyrics and headnodding bounce.”

If you’re into indie, alternative hip-hop sounds, both bands are definitely worth checking out.  There’s no sitting down when it comes to listening to these beats.  In fact, there was an all-out mosh pit going down inside the Rocawear Showroom (no, I didn’t participate, in case you were wondering!).

Right now, you can download the entire STFU & Listen album for free here!  And learn more about Game Rebellion at their website.
