Cool and Cold Street Style @MBFW
It is freezing. It’s suppose to be ‘spring’ fashion week showcasing FW14 but it is so cold that everything on the runway looked ready-to-wear! I tried my best to dress warmly. Heat tech tights, tall boots, side split skirt, gloves, scarf, jacket.
Furs, faux furs, leather, gloves, scarves is what I like to see. Bare legs, frostbitten feet, perforated dresses and shivering cold people is what I didn’t want to see. NYC challenges you to be weather appropriate and also fashionable. I found a few inside and outside Lincoln Center that were able to achieve the balance of both. -
Get the @alice_olivia Runway Look with @TIGIHaircareUSA
Two of my favorite brands came together during NYC’s Fashion Week: Alice + Olivia and CATWALK by TIGI.
Stacey Bendet amazed us with her “preppy-meets-pretty” Spring 2014 Alice + Olivia collection that was inspired by the “American Girl.” It featured a true elegance, carefree spirit and of course, a romantic twist. I’m loving the pops of pastel and the sophisticated neutrals.
I’ll take one of each!

To get the look just right, CATWALK by TIGI global creative director Nick Irwin came up with a complementary hairstyle that captured the true essence of the Alice + Olivia girl: the simple chignon.
It’s an elegant look that adds a bit of edge to every outfit, and I’ve got the inside scoop on how you can achieve it at home with CATWALK by TIGI’s range of styling products:
- Starting with a base of straight, dry hair, begin flat ironing small sections using the CATWALK® by TIGI® Your Highness Weightless Shine Spray
- Once hair is bone-straight, create a deep and defined side part over the left eyebrow and carefully brush hair into a low ponytail at the nape – being careful to smooth hair over (not behind!) the right ear. Secure with an elastic.
- Work CATWALK® by TIGI® Curlesque Strong Hold Mousse through the pony tail, applying heat with a blow dryer to eliminate fly always and provide hold
- After securing the bottom of the ponytail with another small elastic, gently twist the hair into a perfect chignon, tucking ends out of sight and securing with french pins
- Set the look with CATWALK® by TIGI® Session Series Finishing Spray
- Rock that look, honey!

Fresh SS14 Looks Christian Siriano @csiriano
For spring 2014, Christian Siriano drew upon his recent trip to Isla Mujeres, the “Island of Women,” off Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula for inspiration. It is a modern yet authentic representation of the Mexican culture that is still appealing to women around the globe. The collection is a celebration of the female form as seen through a romantic lens to capture a refreshingly young vibe.
The color palette and silhouettes of the collection evolved from the architecture and bright tropical colors of the residential buildings, the crafts and handmade textiles, and the Caribbean coast. The imagery behind a fusion of grass and palm-lined huts, the terribly picturesque color blocked streets and intricate stonework in the town created a base foundation for the clothing’s shapes.
Prints were sparked by the traditional abundance of the dahlia, creating a reoccurring floral pattern. There are day separates in vibrant prints paired with raffia textiles, and soft elegant organzas for evening in sand tones. This collection, like the stimuli of the island, is dramatic and powerful in the lightest way possible.

@MBfashionweek Backstage Beauty @MaraHoffman @TIGIHaircareUSA
TiGi created some incredible looks for Mara Hoffman backstage using a combination of pomade and high shine spray. Creating 3 braids and wrapping it with a colorful Guatemalan belts as bands – the TiGi team, transformed these models into magical and mythical RAINBOW WARRIORS.This guy was supervising the beauty department
Mara Hoffman beams a positive energy that lights up a room. “There’s a Rainbow Warrior moment happening here,” she said backstage before her spirited Spring show. “This collection is about straight-up happiness. I know that sounds hippie-dippie, but it’s real.” Hoffman wasn’t kidding about the rainbow thing. In addition to playing up her signature vibrant prints (including a graphic serpent pattern and her go-to third-eye motifs, which she did long before Kenzo), Hoffman showed maxi dresses and sheer caftans embroidered or embellished, respectively, with ROYGBIV-colored arcs. Other standouts in the lineup included tie-dyed jumpsuits, intarsia-knit ponchos, and a pair of short shorts cut from artisanal Guatemalan belts—the same ones wrapped around the models’ Willie Nelson-esque braided extensions. Hoffman’s aesthetic is niche, to be sure, but you can’t say these clothes don’t have soul (via Style.com)
She is amazing!

Invasion Collections by @BoyMeetsGirlUSA
Stacy’s show was a smashing success! I am so glad that I went to check out the brand new Boy Meets Girl collection.
My fav piece was the blue/pink panel black leggings on the top right below. Super cute.
Boy Meets Girl® by Stacy Igel returned to New York Fashion Week with the “Invasion Collections” on February 13th. This high-energy, electric show featured not only the popular Boy Meets Girl® Classic Collection but two new collections, Boy Meets Girl® University and Boy Meets Girl® GIRLS.
“This season I was inspired by the “BritPop” music scene of the early 90s where bands such as Oasis, Blur, Suede, and later on The Spice Girls, developed a unique British reaction to the various musical and cultural trends of the period in the United States at that time,” says Stacy Igel, Boy Meets Girl® Founder/Creative Director. The Boy Meets Girl collection incorporates loud “pops” of color, and fun, edgy and unapologetic phraseology and imagery. This invasion is all about attitude, and attitude is age-defying. That’s why we’re introducing three collections this season, Boy Meets Girl® GIRLS, University, and Classic.”
Stacy was also inspired by the sleek and beautiful design of Harman Kardon® headphones where she incorporated these functional and fashionable accessories down the runway. The shoes featured in the show were by Go Jane and the jewelry was a collaboration between MelodyEhsani and Boy Meets Girl®.
The show also brought attention to BullyBust, a national bully prevention campaign, where Stacy serves as an Upstander Ambassador. EPIC Records recording artist Leah LaBelle topped off the show with a live performance while models strutted down the runway, including YouTube star and model Cassandra Bankson, who walked in the show for a second time to support the anti bullying movement. The Real Housewives of New Jersey TeresaGiudice’s daughter Gia, who herself has been bullied in the past walked in the show, as well as Matchmaker Siggy Flicker’s daughter Sophia.Celebrity Guests included Rosario Dawson (Actress), Jermaine Dupri (Musician), Paula Garcés (Actress), Lenay Dunn (MTV Host/Actress),Joanne Nosuchinsky (Miss New York USA 2013), Nikki Orlando (Miss New York Teen USA 2013), Alex McCord (Real Housewives of New York), Miri Ben-Ari (Musician), Carla Facciolo (Mob Wives), Wynter Gordon (Atlantic Recording Artist), Baiyu (Singer), Brandon Michael Vayda (Actor), Kerry Rhodes, (Arizona Cardinals), Michael Coe (Dallas Cowboys) and many more.
