    (NY) Dylan’s Candy Bar

Janice came to visit me and dieting is not our resolution so we went to Dylan’s Candy Bar!  FYI, being Ralph Lauren’s daughter, it’s not so hard to make your dreams come true… Dylan’s shop is wonderous, sugary paradise.

The world’s largest candy store, $12.99/lbs… yum yum yum!

    (NY) Mysterious Guy #4

I was on the F train last week heading to the Pro Keds event and I saw this fine fella.  I noticed his square handkerchief in his blazer pocket, I noticed his Varvatos-esque boots and of course his fingerless gloves. But more so it was his magnetic aura that interesting people all possess.  Anyway, in my previous post about how ‘he has to match my fly‘ – I am always amused when my thoughts manifest into reality.  I got off at 2nd street and left for the event.

Then I called Joey telling her I swear I felt like he wanted to talk to me too lol. But I was too chicken. So here is the twist of Guy #4… you ready? HE WAS HEADING TO THE SAME EVENT.   So anyway needless to say, he is just as awesome as I thought. Justin Bridges, stylist and owner of Tucked LLC.
    Til the next one…

    (NY) 1 Month

I have a cozy studio apartment in West Village. It is considered downtown Manhattan and the neighborhood is just lovely. Compared to Toronto, I would say it’s a mix between Liberty Village and Kensington. Compared to LA, I would say it’s very Abbot Kinney with a Venice Beach feel.  I love my big windows!  So when I moved here, I had none of my stuff  so I only had my mattress and the ‘make a closet’ from Target. Kinda empty right?
but alas, my things arrived in 8 mangled boxes via Fed Ex ground eventually 2 weeks later.
So with I had to find a place for all my clothes, shoes and clothes and more shoes.

OMG right? But guess what, it all fit in my ‘closet’!

Ta-da! Shoes on the left, tops on the right and all hangables on the top, skirts on the bottom, bags on the top! Woo!

We are just a hop skip away from NYU and Washington Square. On the weekend, a guy rolls his piano there and plays for everyone! He is a concert pianist at the very least – it’s wonderful.

Two bright windows, more than happy! I can people watch and sit by the window thinking about my life… and what to blog ๐Ÿ™‚

I have yet to find a ‘bed’ but I am okay with my mattress for now.

So this is the tour – Here is my room, closet, bed and mini sofa

And right beside the bed, is my kitchenette, perfect for small gourmet meals for 1.

The door is right beside it.. lol. This is how cozy and quaint New York apartments are.

Right past my kitchenette is my bathroom! It has a stand up shower, sink and toilet. I pee/shower with the door open cuz… it get a bit claustrophobic because it’s so tiny.
So that’s my place! 1 month in New York so far… so far so good ๐Ÿ™‚ Please come visit, but 1 at a time…!

    (NY) Mysterious Guy #3

Hey Mr Volleyball player, you are just my type. You got on the A train, just as self conscious as you are hot. I know your type.  Your socks and flipflops attire tell me your such a ‘serious athlete’ and you just really don’t care. I know you are coming from your game cuz you opened your bag twice to take out the volleyball and look for stuff in your bag.

    Volleyball

You and your V-neck T and hoodie, I think we would just be perfect together. I know you are a serious guy… about certain things. You got off at Union Square but only to wait for the Brooklyn bound train. You remind me of all the athletes I’ve dated, serious, self assured yet self conscious and a Spartan body.  You and I probably see the world so differently – your focus and discipline contrast with my free spirit and whimsy could lead to the most wonderful balance. Or the most dramatic fights that Eminem and Rih sing about. Who knows…

Oh all the interesting things that happen around W4 station ๐Ÿ™‚

    Erica Weiner

I first heard about Erica Weiner when I received the CK Obsession perfume giveaway with her HandCuff Necklace. I love it and get complimented all the time for wearing it.

She has been grinding away because I see her name everywhere now. if you don’t know about her exquisite pieces… You better ask someone!

Erica started designing and making jewelry out of her LES apartment in 2005. Before that, she honed her design and production skills as a theatrical costumer and samplemaker in the fashion industry. Over the years and throughout her travels, she gathered a collection of curiosities and used them to develop a line of jewelry with an emphasis on craftsmanship and affordability. The collection grew exponentially, as did her fan base. There seemed to be a never-ending demand for locally made, affordable vintage-inspired jewelry, designed with a sense of humor. Erica Weiner Jewelry can now be found in shops around the world.

We’re growing fast, but we’re still operating as a grassroots, co-operative company.

In 2007, Erica and co-founder Lindsay Salmon moved the studio into a sun-filled workspace on Chrystie Street. Together they travel around the country, searching out interesting materials to transform into new jewelry. A team of trusted friends carry out almost every aspect of the business in-house. We believe in responsible employment (that means health insurance for everyone working here). Thanks for supporting us–you’ve given us the freedom to sustain ourselves financially and creatively.

Our environmental policy: Packing materials are reused and mailers are 90% post-consumer paper and 100% recyclable. About half of our jewelry materials are vintage, dead stock and re-purposed. We offset 300% of our carbon output throughย www.carbonfund.org. Most importantly, all of our jewelry is handmade in NYC; it always has been and always will be.

5% of all after-tax profits from Erica Weiner Jewelry are donated to charities.
