Earth Day with Green Toys Puzzles

Fun and learning fit together with the Green Toys™ Puzzles! The colorful Dump Truck, Garden, and Tea Time puzzles are just right for toddlers developing fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.

These durable, 4-piece sets perfect starter-puzzles, with easy-to-hold 3D pieces that encourage imagination and pretend play. Children can easily identify the shapes of the pieces, building cooperative play and communication skills as they ask for a wheel, cupcake, or flower to complete their masterpiece.

With 2 nephews and a brand new niece, I know there are plenty of occasions in need of new toys. Toys that the kids can learn from and benefit the earth is a major bonus! I can’t wait to have my niece try out the new Green Toys Puzzles. I think she will need a break from her brothers’ lightsabres and robots and love her Garden Puzzle.

Sustainable Style for NYFW – 10 Pairs of Jeans in a Ford

That’s right – 10 pairs of jeans in a Ford, and not because you’re using your trunk as a closet.

With eyes on New York runways this week, sustainability in style is top of mind… But how do recycled fabrics reach those of us who aren’t buying prêt-à-porter straight off the catwalk? Ford Motor Company has long recognized that sustainability is a key component in the future of great infrastructure and compelling design. In an effort to make its products more eco-friendly, Ford is continuously implementing innovative, sustainable materials and fabrics into each new vehicle. Screen Shot 2015-09-14 at 10.57.40 AM

Take recycled post-industrial cotton, for example. Vehicles such as the Ford Escape and Fusion (and even the tough F-150!) actually contain the equivalent of about 10 pairs of jeans, 26 bath towels, or 31 t-shirts – these sustainable textiles components are used as carpet insulation and sound absorption in the vehicles.

Furthering its mission to promote sustainable design, Ford teamed up with Coca Cola to use recycled plastic to create carbon polyester fibers in car seats. Constantly looking for more partnerships to continue the effort, including research with Heinz to explore the use of tomato fiber, Ford is at the forefront of stylish sustainability. Additionally, Ford is currently the only automaker to use REPREVE, a 100% recycled material used in its car seats worldwide; by using this material, Ford will divert more than five million plastic bottles from landfills this year alone!
