    The annual American Advertising Awards celebrate creativity in local advertising. As the only advertising awards show in Las Vegas, winners go right to regionals and then on to nationals. All entries are independently judged, and winners are announced at the Addy awards show.

    Adhemas Batista















    Born in Brazil, Adhemas Batista’s career as a self-educated designer and digital artist began in 1996. Experienced in both digital and traditional advertising, his work with Havaianas gained worldwide exposure and prompted his 2006 move to Los Angeles, where he happily resides with his wife and four children.

    Batista’s distinctive visual style – marked with bold, vibrant colors and organic, swirly forms – caught the attention of numerous influential brands and resulted in collaborations with Absolut, Adobe, Adidas, Coca-Cola, Doritos, Gatorade, National Geographic, Speedo, PepsiCo, UNICEF and now – Las Vegas.

    His attention to detail and craft ultimately earned him three Golden Statues in the London International Advertising Festival, The One Show’s prestigious Gold Pencil and a nomination for an Emmy Award. Recognized by The Cannes Festival of Advertising in 2003 as the Brazilian Young Creative, he has since received nine festival Lions, including: three Golden Lions as well as a Grand Prix for the Good honoring his work in “UNICEF Unfairly Tales,” a campaign about the Syrian refugee crisis.

    In addition, Microsoft’s Windows 7 and 8 operating systems featured his work and the UK’s Computer Arts Magazine elected his Coca-Cola piece as the “Design of the Decade 00-09.”

    Adhemas believes everyone is made of energy – a light source that can shine strong and affect everyone around it, change behaviors, motivate people and generate creativity.

    Mike Winkelmann, better known as Beeple, is a graphic designer from Charleston, South Carolina who works across a number of digital mediums. His recent work includes short films, concert visuals, album artwork, and VR/AR concept work.

    Beeple has done visuals for superstar entertainers, including: Justin Bieber, One Direction, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, Zedd, along with a number of Las Vegas resident DJs including: deadmau5, Avicii and more. He has also released hundreds of Creative Commons VJ clips that are used extensively by VJs all over the world. In addition, he has recently completed over ten years of “everydays” a project where pictures are all taken from start to finish every day. The project has inspired hundreds of other artists to start their own everydays projects.

    Born and raised in Toulouse, France, Fafi’s strong presence in the graffiti and fine arts scene was first witnessed on her hometown walls in 1994. Her sexy, funny and sometimes aggressive girl characters made the whole world take notice. By exploring femininity through stereotypes and using it to her advantage, she drew enormous attention and thus started to travel the world with thousands of Fafinettes, her iconic characters, in her brushes and paint cans.

    Fafi has previously worked with Sony to design a six-character toy set for the Time Capsules collection, an almost natural move for her three-dimensional measures. Other successful figurines would follow, as well as numerous expositions and collaborations with Colette, Adidas, LeSportSac, Coca-Cola and countless press stories in the most prestigious magazines (i.e. Vogue, Elle, The Face, XLR8R, Yen etc.).

    Prior to her work on the Vegas: Alter Your Reality campaign, Fafi had created wall-to-wall murals on prominent buildings for the Life is Beautiful music festival that takes place annually in downtown Las Vegas.

    INSA has grown from graffiti writer to accomplished artist. Using concepts as ambitious as filming from space to produce seconds worth of looping-animated artwork, he has proved himself truly unique in vision and accomplishment. In the process, he has amassed tens of millions of views online for his stunning video projects.

    Originally famous for his ubiquitous ‘Graffiti Fetish’ artwork that focused on issues of modern aspirations, his visual motifs confront the fetishisation of products in modern society and the commodification of success and ambition. Now known for his mind-bending ‘GIF-ITI’ work, which is underpinned by the theme of online versus offline life, the artist continues his interest in confounding concepts of time and space, the ways in which we process and consume and the transience of both art and object.

    Prior to his work with Vegas: Alter Your Reality, INSA worked with brands including Nike and Sony.

    James White, also known as Signalnoise, was born in 1977 and calls Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada home. His parents were never able to keep typewriter paper in the house as White would steal it for drawings as early as the age of four. Upon graduation of high school, he attended a graphic design course in his hometown where he was introduced to Photoshop and Illustrator; tools he still uses today. His professional design career began in 1998 designing websites and print campaigns.

    White never stopped creating and working on his own projects that took up evenings and weekends, eventually resulting in the creation of the Signalnoise Studio. His personal projects gained recognition in the industry and led him to working with Toyota, Universal Music, Nike, MTV, Google, Wired, and now – Las Vegas.

    Today, his focus is on various neon-infused art projects, creating some pieces to compliment his childhood in the 1980s. He also spends a lot of time on the road speaking at various design conventions and events around the world.

    Before embarking on the Vegas: Alter Your Reality project, White had never been to Las Vegas before. His artwork reflects a unique interpretation of Las Vegas through the eyes of a first-time visitor.

    Kickerstart this: Sneakerlife Series

    A docu-series providing an inside look into the world of sneaker design and the phenomenon of sneaker culture.

    About this project

    We are producing THE SNEAKER LIFE, a 22-minute, 10-episode series that examines the world of sneakers through a design-based lens. Our pilot episode, if funded, will launch the series.

    The series will focus on the current state of “Sneaker-ness” while paying homage to 25+ years of sneaker history with interviews and insights from experts in sneaker culture– from athletes, musicians and influencers to sneaker designers, enthusiasts, and “Sneakerologists.”

    The show will delve into 5 main categories exploring: Luxury and High End Fashion • Sport and Function, Sneaker Culture • The Business of Sneakers • The Future of Sneaker Design • Sneaker Design Schools.

    We will dive deep into this unique world hitting the road for interviews in epicenters of sneaker culture such as LA, NY, Portland, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Chicago, Detroit, Jersey City, Boston, Philadelphia and Toronto. Each episode will be will be shot in a loose docu-series style and have a fun and energetic tone.

    Hi, I’m Cary, entrepreneur, veteran of the media and entertainment space, and creator of this original series. Together with an extremely committed and talented team, we are setting out to produce this series and other original content for a new digital video network.

    How you can help

    “THE SNEAKER LIFE” is a labor of love from passionate sneaker fans who want to dedicate a series around the culture and influence of sneakers. We need your help to produce our pilot episode and launch the series. Your contributions will go directly toward the production, editing, and distribution costs for the show.

    While there have been a number of original shows, segments and documentaries about sneaker culture, we see an ongoing story to tell about the profound influence sneakers have had on popular culture and support the community of insanely creative artists who design sneakers. We invite you to join us as we lift the veil and explore the concept of sneakers and design in the interesting and exotic world of “Sneaker-ness.”

    Help us get the word out!

    We would start shooting in August and anticipate that production would take about 8 weeks. If our pilot is funded, we’d then work to get more episodes produced.

    @nyigf RECAP: The New York International Gift Fair

    After a very rainy week, there was finally a sunny day yesterday!

    We headed down to the Javits Center to see all that is new in gift, home and lifestyle products.  This show was HUGE.  We were able to hit Pier 94, the 3000’s and the 7000’s. It was crazy. I am sad that I missed the baby and the jewelry sections but I had a lot of fun and met some amazing vendors!

    I will be highlighting some of my favorite products in upcoming posts but here is a sneak peek!

    Rock Duo Says She’s Ms. Blat

    Says She’s Ms. Blat announces the release of a digital 45 and music video for the songs, “Violent Nudity” and “Ha Ha Ha”.

    WATCH! LISTEN!Says She’s Ms. Blat announces the release of a digital 45 and music video for the “A and B” side songs, “Violent Nudity” and “Ha Ha Ha”. The two tracks were written and recorded by Lottie Leymarie (piano, vocals) and Bret Puchir (drums, vocals, production) in the band’s Greenpoint, Brooklyn studio. The five-minute audio diptych is paired with a video of the band shot at various locations throughout New York City.  A narrative odyssey of this two piece whom only look forward as they search for a whimsical interplay between life and art, seduction of the grotesque and inane.

    R360 Group, a Brooklyn based, creative production and marketing shop teamed up with the duo to create a music video extravaganza. Executive producer: Antonio Tronic McDonald, Producer: Vaitari Anderson, Co Directors: Antonio Tronic of R360 & Lazlo.

    “Violent Nudity”, portrays the ritualistic decadence of summer.  Sexually infused to the sinners, haters and the selfish.  A type of “ceremonious “ suicide, disemboweled aberrations of the reckless mobius of youth and young at heart.

    “Ha Ha Ha”, the second song, deals with a dissimilar subject matter, that of mortality and the inherent timeline embedded to each of us.  The party ends, the mind fades.  When will the elimination of the senses cease?  “Ha Ha Ha”, I guess I’ll wait and see.

    An extremely talented pool of people were brought together for the video shoot.  Contortionists, fire blowers, tigers and pink human bunnies performing both on land and water, all while the music spins you into a high paced head trip, something Says She’s Ms. Blat can’t wait for you to experience.

    Says She’s Ms. Blat is a musical duo formed in the summer of 2008 by classically trained pianist, vocalist and songwriter, Lottie Leymarie. The duo began recording what would become their first album in 2009 entitled “Says She’s Ms. Blat” in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Bret Puchir, who is a guitarist and producer by trade , lent his talent to Leymarie by joining the band not only as her producer, but also as the drummer. His unique style to enmesh perfectly with Leymarie’s off beat piano approach was compatible to the personalities and their unabashed regard to music. The two are known for their incredibly high-energy live shows and the ability to captivate an audience with their multi layered sound and stage antics. “One might think there is a full band playing, but there are only two of us, that’s how we like it.”  On their latest release, which is a digital 45, the two collaborated as musicians, lyricists and producers. “We are louder, harder and more energetic than ever before”

    The meaning behind the name Says She’s Ms. Blat stems from an old New York Times article found on the Internet. The headline was ” She Says She’s Mrs. Platt”. The article was about a woman in 1915 who had continuously married wealthy men, divorced them, took their money, changed her name and moved on to the next victim. She was a con artist who was quite progressive for a woman in the early twentieth century. “I liked the idea of her ever changing persona. As an artist, you are constantly changing and coming up with new ideas. Ms. Blat is the persona I took on as a musician. Although I write from personal experience, my world is constantly forming and reshaping around me, I’ll never be the same person I was when I wrote a particular song or album. I’ll be whatever I want to be and right now, I say that I’m Ms. Blat.”
