“My Fall/Winter 2016 collection was first inspired by artist Sheila Hicks’ “Art of the Yarn” exhibit. After researching her work and the idea of yarn design as a form of art, Christian Siriano became inspired by all the many different techniques of knitting and weaving in fabrications. They looked at different ways to knit, twist and manipulate fabric into pieces that had structure but were still soft and elegant. To modernize these techniques, they digitally printed knitted fibers onto silk jerseys, cottons and wool in order to capture the idea of a knit – without the process of knitting. Just as Hicks weaves textured narratives with yarn, they tried to create a collection with story progression.
This collection uses volume, texture, soft fibers, and masculine undertones in shape and silhouette. Menswear-inspired suits and tailored evening pieces balance it out. It was important to stay true to the inspiration while remaining mindful of their loyal customer and her love of femininity, and they are introducing her to a hint of tailored, Bowie-inspired androgyny.”

Beauty Must Have: true lipz
Every girl needs a good lip gloss to keep her lips hydrated and pampered throughout the evening. My favorite lip gloss at the moment is true lipz Dragon’s Blood. This product is a definite must have in your beauty bag. This breakthrough in lip color and deep hydration is so unique and the colors are stunning! I love the ultra-smooth texture and lustrous shine that gives your makeup that final touch. This ultra-rich formula is packed with natural emollients that revitalize and nourish. Did I mention it comes with a mirror and LED light? No more waiting on long bathroom lines to reapply gloss!

Backstage Beauty with @Marahoffman #MBFW and Catwalk by TIGI
Finally made my way to Lincoln Center on Saturday to catch the Mara Hoffman show! As some of you know, I am working with a NY designer for Fashion Week doing their social media so I have been preoccupied. BUT this was sensational! Nick from TIGI talked about Mara’s inspiration: 70’s, California and the desert dryness that inspired the beauty look SS15.
My good friend JAN from the AMPTEAM came by to hang out with me! Yay!
Mara Hoffman’s name is synonymous with her electric prints, but for Spring she set out to prove her evolution and range as a designer. “I do fabrications. I do silhouettes. I do a whole lot more than just blasting you with neon prints,” she said backstage before her runway show. “I wanted to shift the equation and create something that reflected more of my own personal aesthetic. I want my girl to grow and hope she comes along with me on the trip.” Scaling back those in-your-face graphics made for a tranquil, easier collection that ultimately captured Hoffman’s mantra: “Be light.”
The first look out—a white linen button-down paired with matching wide-leg culottes—exemplified this season’s new, softer direction. Continuing to work with natural fabrics and a muted color palette, Hoffman whipped up relaxed pieces including a floor-sweeping terra-cotta-hued bandeau dress, and a woven shirt-and-trousers set with faded rainbow stripes. More often than not, patterns were incorporated in the form of beading (a dégradé checkerboard slip, in particular, earned high marks) or embroidery (Hoffman’s favorite group featured “electrolyte” needlework). And while the designer largely moved away from her signature prints here, she couldn’t help but sprinkle a “harvest” motif resembling cannabis leaves throughout the lineup. Hoffman took her finale bow in a cute cutout jumpsuit splashed with the mood-lifting pattern, which is sure to become a hit among her loyal, free-spirited customers. Talk about a high point.(via Style.com)

Ann Yee S/S 2015 Collection @inninails @aveda @ayeecollection
Human history is characterized by man’s unending adaptation to his/her environment. Why should New York Fashion Week be any different?
New York Designer Ann Yee kicks off the season with a climate change inspired collection. As weather becomes less predictable, going from hot to cold with little notice, fashion must adapt, we must be ready for a blistering afternoon and a rainy evening.
This collection, and the looks are all about dress that can prepare you for whatever Mother Nature has in store for you. Layering and textured knits create an abstract look on the body that is complemented with a similar interpretation on the face and hair.
Makeup artist Fatima Thomas creates a natural look called “seasonless makeup” that features a natural look, with a hot color right in the middle. Like the weather the look travels from cold to hot with a vibrant lip that’s a mix of 2 lipsticks and a pigment in the center of the lip. Paired with these variations in temperature on the face are hair stylist Jon Reyman’s version of climate change with smooth yet textured, edgy doo on top. A sassy manicure with nail art by INNI.
Now for the hair from Aveda!

Blogger Must Have #iPhone 5C and #Shutterball @MBFW @VZWNYMetro
I got the most amazing present from my Mom2 called a Shutterball. It works like a remote shutter for your iPhone 4S+. Designed to take perfect Selfies and photos from a far, the Shutterball made my days at Fashion Week so much easier and lots more fun.
Since I only had a 4, I was so lucky to get a loaner iPhone 5C from my friends at Verizon for Fashion Week.
You can get the Shutterball at http://www.myshutterball.com
See the photos I took during Fashion Week with my Shutterball and iPhone 5C
Verizon Wireless lent me an iPhone 5C to test out during Fashion Week. Coming from an iPhone 4, this 5C was amazing! It had a long battery life, fast reaction time, quick upload and I was able to FourSquare check-in, Facebook message, post to Instagram and Tweet seamlessly! The Verizon network has great coverage so in locations my Sprint phone could not get a signal, I was still able to upload with my 5C. The bright fun colors that iPhone 5C is offered in makes it a colorful inspiration for my everyday life.

Backstage Pass @MaraHoffman @MBFW
One of my favorite parts of Fashion Week is backstage! This is where all the beauty and prep work happens! From nails to hair to make up… The glam squad do not play around!
My loaner iPhone 5C from Verizon working wonders
They get all the models ready quickly to the looks created to match the season’s pieces. I was invited by Tigi Catwalk (Hair) and Maybelline NY (Makeup/Nails) to come and partake in the backstage portion of Mara Hoffman. It is really amazing to see how it all comes together!
