Beyoncé’s Minx Nail Fashion at the Superbowl:

Behind the Scenes by Celebrity Nail Stylist Lisa Logan

     nail

No one on the planet can deny that Beyoncè’s halftime performance at the Superbowl was sheer perfection… and New York celebrity nail stylist Lisa Logan can attest that reaching that level of perfection takes a ton of preparation!

On Saturday, January 26 at 5:00 pm in the evening, celebrity nail stylist and salon owner Lisa Logan received a phone call asking her to jump on the first available flight to New Orleans to create the nail styles for Beyoncé  and her backup dancers that would be performing at the Superbowl halftime extravaganza.

Why the urgency a week before the event?  The next morning, Beyoncé’s team would be filming highly specialized holographic effects for the top-secret halftime spectacle, and all the backup dancers and Beyoncé needed to have their nails styled with Minx, the solid nail coating that is the undisputed leader in high impact nail fashion.

“As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I began working on creating super long nail tips covered with the Gold and Matte Gold Chevron Minx that would be worn by the backup dancers,” explained Lisa.  “The process was very time consuming because the nails were going to be used in the holographic segment where it looks like Beyoncé has multiple arms (see screen shot attached), so all the dancers had to be wearing the same design.  And, because the nails were so long, I needed to use two Minx templates to cover each tip.”  (See exclusive photos of backup dancers taken by Lisa Logan).

Lisa completed applying Minx to the tips around 4:00 am, and was back at the hotel just 3 hours later, ready to apply the finished Minx  to the ten backup dancers who were arriving to begin filming.  By noon on January 27, Beyoncé had also arrived and Lisa applied the same Matte Gold Chevron Minx to her nails as well, pointing out that “since the hologram was made to look like Beyoncé had multiple arms, obviously everyone had to be wearing the same design for the video.”

Beyoncé, who last month posted a custom Minx design inspired by New York artist Jean-Michel Basquiat on Instagram (see attached Instagram photo), often wears custom Minx colors and designs, with the Minx metallics a particular favorite due to the high impact it delivers on stage and on the red carpet.

Since Minx is the only patented heat-activated solid nail coating, Lisa explains that the nail coating literally conforms to the actual shape of the nail, and can last up to two weeks on the fingers and six weeks on the toes.  Beyoncé’s perfectly Minxed nails at the Superbowl halftime show were the same set that had been applied a full week prior, and were the same Minx she wore for her January 31 press conference in which she sang a superb live rendition of the national anthem (see attached photo).

Fans who would love to experience Minx can purchase their own DIY Minx nails by logging on to thewww.MinxTastingRoom.com, or can have a set professionally applied at a Minx-certified salon found through thewww.MinxNails.com salon finder.

The solid nail coating can be worn on either natural nails or tips and are constantly seen on celebrities including Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.

Description of Designs in the “Minx Professional by Lisa Logan 2” Collection

I Heart You: I initially created this design after working with Suri Cruise, whose mom Katie told me that
Suri’s favorite colors were pink and purple. I used these two colors to make a recurring heart design
especially for her, but I didn’t have a chance to show it to Suri. When I was deciding on designs for my
collection, I liked this one so much that I didn’t want it to go to waste, and I just switched around the
colors to make it more reflective of my style.

Jigsaw: I wanted to put together fun pieces that were clear as well as colorful to make an abstract
design that resembles a jigsaw puzzle. The clear pieces represent pieces that are missing, and I like to
think that I’m like a puzzle… you can try to figure me out, but there are always going to be some pieces
that you don’t know about. You can never totally know someone – there will always be some surprises!

Life Line Yellow: Initially I played with a lot of options with a colored moon, reverse moon, and other
ideas but when I narrowed them down I liked the line down the middle. This design is starting to be
popular with my clients, and to me it represents life, running right down the center of your being. I
chose the color combination of yellow and silver because this collection is coming out in summer, and
    it’s a wonderful, bright combination.

Scribble Me Black and White: The Scribble Me design was a way for me to add my signature to my line
without including an actual logo. The handwriting is my own handwriting, and it includes my name, and
phrases like “I heart you.” I thought I would keep this in black and white as a lot of my clients want to
have fun with their nails but in a subtle way.

Scribble Me Graffiti: This is the Scribble Me design but in the color version. I love the graffiti look and
I chose a color combination that would really pop, to give a really fun version of this design.

Mumba: Tribal has become very popular in nail art and I wanted to create a tribal pattern that was
very bold. When I looked at it, I wanted to feel like I could hear the drums beating and like I wanted
to dance. My grandmother was Indian and my grandfather was from Guyana in South America, so this
tribal design also celebrates my heritage.

Tribal: Although my grandmother was Indian and my grandfather from Guyana, I myself am not very
knowledgeable about my background so this tribal design is the muted, monochromatic version that
represents myself. I have the colorful heritage, but I didn’t grow up in the culture so was influenced
only a little, as this pale design demonstrates.

Mood Swing: This design is an optical illusion and I love it! The optical illusion again represents how
people may try to figure me out, but they really don’t know me. I carry out a lot of different roles in my
life, and have many sides to my personality so what you see may not be the same thing you see a day
later! This pattern also shows the fun in trying to decipher hidden messages or riddles.

    Fashionable Nails with @MinxNailsDotCom

Minx Nails is such a great trend to try right now. It also makes a great gift! Mess free — this nail sticker-like (heat is used to shrink wrap the Minx) product is a nice change from the usual nail polish.

You can see this a lot on celebrities and I don’t see why not as it’s so easy and you can pick from many different types of designs.

*Note – Minx Nails is applied by trained & licensed professionals so click on the link I provided at the bottom to find a Minxer!

What I did was clean my nails first (remove any polish, residue, etc). Next I removed each sticker and lined it up with my cuticle while pressing down to seal it. The sticker is very long as you will see in the pictures below so you’ll need to cut it with scissors and a nail clipper. Last, file your nails!I don’t know how this will look on longer nails but I think it turned out really nice on my nails…Maybe this will help my nails grow out since they’re so brittle! You can use these on your toes as well.

I would recommend using this product for special occasions or if you want to try a kind of design you can’t do with regular nail polish. It’s definitely worth trying nonetheless!
