This Thursday, Heydoyou.com was invited to the Uniqlo Fifth Avenue store for a first look at the UNIQLO x Hana Tajima SS16 collection.
UNIQLO x Hana Tajima
Introducing the exclusive Hana Tajima LifeWear collection, from UNIQLO and UK-born fashion designer Hana Tajima. From casual pieces including long, flowing skirts, tapered ankle-length pants, and blouses to more traditional wear like kebaya and hijab, this collection fuses contemporary design and comfortable fabrics with traditional values.
About Hana Tajima
UK-born fashion designer and blogger Hana Tajima is changing the way young women dress all over the world. Inspired by her Japanese roots and English upbringing, her modern, functional designs, which are both culturally sensitive and extremely comfortable, continue garnering international attention and acclaim.
“We are particularly excited about the update to our AIRism Inner Hijab and High Neck Sleeveless Top that ensures coverage without compromising comfort, especially in warm weather,” Hana said.
The first UNIQLO x Hana Tajima Collection launched last year in Southeast Asia, and now it has been introduced for the first time in the U.S since last Thursday!
Fresh from getting down with Lupita Nyong’O, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams at the Oscars, Pharrell has got himself a new gig as the face of Uniqlo UT. Recently relaunched under the creative direction of his friend and frequent collaborator Nigo – the man famous for founding legendary Japanese label BAPE – Uniqlo’s streetwear line is anchored by the aptly monikered “The New Model T” T-shirt. Its USP? Not only is it made from a hardier cotton than Uniqlo’s regular shirts, but it also features a torso with no sides seams for added comfort as well as a series of eye-popping graphics throughout the season.
While the offering is always extensive, this season Nigo has taken things into a whole new realm by creating a range of T-shirts featuring 35 themes in a staggering 1200 colours combinations and patterns. The first you can see on Pharrell himself here is a collaboration with the Oscar nominee’s “i am OTHER” collective. While there are few details on exactly what will be in the full selection we can say that it will consist of T-shirts and caps, and is set to launch in mid-April with a TV commercial soundtracked by a track from Pharrell’s new album GIRL.

The LifeWear brand UNIQLO is excited to announce their second collaboration with British designer Lulu Guiness as part of their UT Collection launching today. Since my office is less than 3 mins away from UNIQLO, I ran out in the cold to check out all shirts. Since I missed out on the Andy Warhol one I really wanted (Tomato Can Tank) I knew I had to get a head start to grab these cute collab!
I wanted them all but I only got one. I am loving the cat and the jail stripe tank. BUT… I think I might go back for the horizontal stripe peeking one! So cute 😀 UNIQLO has a lot of great sales all the time so i actually picked up a few other things too. Opps :]
This one is a winner but I have too many ‘cat’ things lately…
So I have ended up grabbing this one in Medium!
