    Snack LOVE: @KINDSnacks #KINDawesome

    20130811_190923

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE me some snacks! I’m not big on the candy, or the potato chips, but I go ham sandwich on some cookies, especially if they’re red velvet cookies. Somedays I may fall upon an apple or a banana, but lately it’s rare that I pick up a healthy snack (I’m working on getting better), I just figure that if I’m gonna snack I might as well go all out… I know, shameful. Sorry but I’m not sorry lol. Anyway, lucky for me there is a new healthy, KIND and DELICIOUS snack on the scene, and that’s the KIND bar.

20130811_200141 When I heard about the KIND bars, I just figured it was another one of those healthy snacks that tasted like cardboard, but I have to admit I was somewhat seduced at the thought of a Sea Salt and Dark Chocolate Chili Almond bar… say what???? I couldn’t wait to try it, and I could feel the snack gods smiling down on me when I received a package a few days ago, and it was FULL of KIND Maple Glazed Pecan and Sea Salt and Dark Chocolate Chili Almond bars!! I’m not big on nuts, but I’ve been running through these bad boys, I love love love them, and I’m proud to say I haven’t touched a cookie in about a week or so!

    20130811_191003

Made from all natural ingredients will only 5 grams of sugar, 7 grams of fibre  and 6 grams of protein. A study by the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center indicates that eating 2 KIND bars a day helps prevent weight again! Other than being delicious, I love love love that you can see and pronounce all the ingredients!!

Have you tried them? If not, you should. NOW.

Thanks to everyone at KIND for sharing these yummy treats with us!

    Event LOVE: @SecondCup Tasting

I’ve been busy packing to move across the world for the last few weeks, and haven’t had much time to be on here, but I’m back 🙂 So what better way to get back to things, than with a sweet and delicious post. A few of us gathered at the Second Cup on King and Jarvis to taste Second Cup’s new fall and holiday menu. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew that it would be delicious. Second Cup CEO Stacey Mowbray, was there to talk us through the tasting, as well as give us some information on the new beverages and treats. I then went to town on the brownies and cupcakes while sipping on my toasted marshmallow latte mmmm…

    Magic Mushrooms

I’ve been eating A LOT of mushrooms lately, and couldn’t help but wonder if there were any health benefits associated with this yummy… fungi. Turns out all mushrooms are loaded with essential nutrients like selenium (good for the bladder), iron, antioxidants, vitamins B2 and B3, potassium, they also increase the production of antiviral and other proteins that help with repairing body tissues and enhancing the immune system.

    Nom nom Vegetable Fried Rice

I love fried rice, but I hate that oily taste that take-out fried rice has. I was in the mood for a nice plate of vegetable fried rice, so rather than going to my favourite chinese restaurant;  I decided to  take matters into my own hands and make my own fried rice. I only used a teaspoon of sesame oil, and was able to fry all my rice and veggies; and then used a teaspoon of low-sodium soy sauce, because you can’t have fried rice without soy sauce!

All the taste, and half the fat and salt. Win.

    peace and love

    Soy GOOD

Lately I’ve been beyond lazy when it comes to cooking, and have been living off of oatmeal, cereal, and bagels. I needed to make things a little more exciting, so I bought some soy bites and made a DELICIOUS stir fry with green peppers, mushrooms, garlic and ginger.

Of course I HAD to have some steamed broccoli

    T’was such a good dinner.

    peace and love
