Get Gorgeous At Any Age: BREVENA Skin Care

unnamedOne of my favorite skin care products out in the market right now is the BREVENA Daily Hydration Moisturizer. The Macro β Complex technology has been championed by plastic surgeons and general surgeons for the repair of burned and traumatized skin and it has been recognized to maintain and rejuvenate healthy skin by our product users. This top quality product is the perfect blend of beauty and advanced medical technology. It is one those great products that can be used by every skin type and age! The prices range from about $30-$100, but you can’t put a price on healthy, nourished skin!

The company is also great at giving back to their community. BREVENA most recently donated 75 jars of moisturizer to be distributed during the cosmetics make-up sessions attended by burn survivors. The Summer Snack Winners Nutiva and Numi Organic Tea

Nothing says summer like a refreshing glass of iced tea. Kick the traditional beverage up a notch with recipes from superfoods brand, Nutiva, and Numi Organic Tea. They’ve combined both Nutiva’s Organic Black and White chia seeds with Numi’s Organic Tea blends for a treat that’s both nutritious and satisfying.

Chia seeds are a rich source of protein, antioxidants, essential omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. These super seeds are also an excellent source of essential minerals such as phosphorous, manganese, calcium, sodium and potassium. Adding chia seeds to your favorite beverage actually helps you feel satiated and is a great way to get your nutrients throughout the day.

Enjoy Nutiva’s new O’Coconut snacks with your iced tea. These snacks are crafted from lightly sweetened organic, fair trade coconut and have only 60 calories each. Enjoy pure coconut with O’Coconut Classic or try O’Coconut Hemp & Chia for additional nutty flavor and the nutritional benefits of Omega-3s. These are amazing and the perfect snack. I got a pack of them and the quickly disappeared from the pantry!

The Connection between Who you Date and What you Eat @AYIDATING

What you put in your mouth says a lot about you, or rather, who will date you. After analyzing 2.4 million interactions, dating site AYI.com discovered just how much your dietary preferences affect your dating life.

The data they found can not only help you find your perfect match, but can help you decide where to take your date out to eat just by looking at their profile—because there’s no faster way to ruin a first date than taking a vegetarian out to a steakhouse! Here’s what AYI.com says to look for:

    • Gender—It turns out that men prefer vegetarian women 11% more than meat eaters, yet women prefer meat eaters 13% more than vegetarians.
    • Ethnicity—Indians are 11x more likely than all other ethnicities to be vegetarian, while Native Americans (followed by African-Americans) are the most likely to be meat eaters. Asians most often identify as healthy eaters—twice as often as African-Americans or Caucasians.
    • Religion—Christians are the most likely to be meat eaters, while Hindus are over 8x more likely than any other religion to be vegetarian/vegan.
    • Education—According to AYI.com, the more education you have, the more likely you are to be a healthy eater. Those with a Ph.D. are 3x more likely than someone with any other degree to be vegetarian, while those without any collegiate experience are 17% more likely than all other education levels to be meat eaters.
    • Location—It’s no surprise that the state your date is from also plays a role in how healthily they eat. California, New York and Florida are the three states with the highest percentage of healthy eaters, while North Dakota, West Virginia and Montana are the least healthy. So if you’re taking a California girl out, you might want to stay away from that greasy burger joint, but if she’s from North Dakota, she might appreciate the grub!

    Serious Snack Alert @Baresnacks

They say an apple a day keeps the Dr away and I think apples are one of the most versatile fruits out there. I asked Janice why she loves apples so much and she said there are tons of variety, textures, sweetness, tartness and they are juicy and filling.   That’s good enough for me. But my confession is that I don’t know how to BITE an apple, my teeth are not strong and my mouth is small. I have to – have to! – eat apples, sliced and cored. Yes, I know.

There is a new snack in town!  It is called BARE and you can include this in your daily snacking if you want to ‘bare’ your midriff this spring summer, far away I know… BARE snacks are made 100% from natural ingredients and its new Crunchy Chile Lime Apple Chips and Crunchy Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips have only 50 calories of deliciousness per serving – perfect for healthy snacking!

These are NOTHING like the soggy apple rings you can get at health food stores. This is way better. They have rad flavors that makes it anything but boring.  It does not compromise the delight of apples in any artificial way and no two piece is identical.

Bare Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips – Sweet tooth mavens will love the mouth-watering sweet and salty apple chips.

Bare Chile Lime Apple Chips – Apple chips that offer a spicy kick of flavor in every bite.
If you want something less ‘trendy’ – try classic favorites like Cinnamon, Fuji Red and Granny Smith.

Living in the Big Apple, you have to be open and sensitive to receive all the inspiration this city is giving you. These snacks inspired this outfit! After sparkling apple cider and a ton of Black Friday pre Cyber Monday shopping… I present to you… what the Bare Snacks Sweet Baked Apples Dipped in Caramel & Sprinkled with Sea Salt would look like in an outfit! Why not 🙂

    Big Apple @baresnacks

BARE’s line of All-Natural Apple Chips have no saturated or trans fat, added sugar or sodium! All BARE snacks are gluten free, Non-GMO Project Verified, kosher, vegan and are free of added sugar, preservatives, lactose, cholesterol and trans-fats.

    Three Feel Good Snacks: @enjoylifefoods @jontyjacobs @nuvosport

I’ll admit it- I love a good snack session.  Sometimes I just need those in-between mini meals to get through the day.  That being said, it’s not always easy to find a snack that my body won’t hate me for later.  And if I do find something healthy, it’s not too often that it will taste very good.  I can recall times when I was on the road, touring with my band, thinking “I really wish this truck stop had SOMETHING I can eat that doesn’t contain some kind of artificial crap.”  As it turned out, my only options were over ripe bananas or stale peanuts in a bag.  Luckily, I feel like I hit the jackpot on my recent snack discoveries.

First, I present you with Enjoy Life Foods Chewy Bars.  I’m just going to get this out of the way right now: I love these things!  Seriously.  Now, I have a go-to snack that is free of any artificial ingredients whatsoever, free of the eight most comment allergens (including gluten, nut, dairy, & soy), and actually TASTES GOOD.  They come in four flavors, including Cocoa Loco, SunButter Crunch, Mixed Berry and Caramel Apple.  Trying these is a good idea.  (enjoylifefoods.com)

Next up, there is a new player in the jerky game and he isn’t messing around.  Meet Jonty Jacobs.  They make a natural, chemical and preservative-free line of dried beef slices and sausage (also known as biltong and droëwors, respectively).  What sets this jerky apart from any other I’ve had is it’s fine quality.  This beef is grass-fed, made in the USA, and cured using a traditional South African method.  Like our previous snack, there are no chemicals or additives in this product- only the GOOD STUFF.  And yes, it is good.  It’s like I’m tasting the meat from beef brisket sandwich from my local NYC deli-  juicy and delicious, but dried for anytime enjoyment.  (jontyjacobs.com)

Finally, Fruitmania is a ready-to-drink “single shot” of five full servings of fruits and vegetables, along with dietary fiber.  Again, I am so happy to share that they are all natural and free of fat, gluten, cholesterol, lactose, and preservatives.  These nutrition packed drinks are made in the USA by NuvoSport and so tasty that they are gaining popularity across the world in China.  When introduced at a Chinese New Year celebration and Autumn moon cake festival, these drinks were a hit.  I liked the Fruit Punch best.  (nuvosport.com)

    Summer Grocery Shopping @Pacificfoods

Pacific Foods has a brand new line of All Natural Hemp Unsweetened non-dairy beverages and Organic Baked and Refried beans!  They added these new items just in time for perfect summer parties. You can use these products to sub into regular recipes that you would make – but healthier!

Screen Shot 2013-05-20 at 4.00.41 PM

The Pacific Hemp drink comes in a variety.  This version is smooth and creamy with a nutty flavor.  Made from the hemp seed, it’s a great source of plant-based nutrition including Omega 3 & 6 and essential amino acids. You can use this with smoothies, cereal and desserts. I used this to make chia pudding by adding vanilla extract, agave, hemp drink and chia seeds top with honey and bananas.

They come in refried, pinto, black, baked beans, pork and no pork. The carton is easy to open and perfect portion for 2-4 people. Beans are full of nutrients and fiber. They are great for you and really filling.
