    Meet the Breeds 2013

    IMG_2460

This past weekend, AKC put on the Meet the Breeds show at Javitts Center and Adalhi and I wen to check out these pooches!  This years show consisted of numerous breeds from A-Z, pet related vendors, Motel 6 and even a few speciality cats in the mix. It was a great opportunity to come see rare breeds, giant breeds and what ‘breed’ standards look like. We wanted to go early for all the great dog food samples and to see all the dogs before their nap time.

Doggie Time by @mochijolie from @uncommongoods

If you are a fan of cutesy awesome products from SUCK UK or Fred Flare you have to check out my new discovery – Uncommon Goods.

I found this website while looking for a present for all my Virgo and Libra friends and for my husband who is on the cusp.  This site is extra cool!  They have a huge range of items are really are ‘uncommon’ and full on indie design options for everyday items. Need some accessories for your phone?Check it out here

Already planning for Christmas? Get a head start on Stocking Stuffers here.

Going to a housewarming party? Birthday party? Just because?  Find an array of amazing items here !

Their most Pinterest friendly item must be the shower squid. (Which I also want badly!)

Uncommongoods have a great range of indie artist who create perfectly chic items that make great presents. The best part is that they have carefully curated content with really great prices. While I was going through the site, I discovered a LA based brand called Mochi and Jolie.  They create dog watches that have silhouettes of different breeds.

“Time with your canine friend isn’t measured in dog years, but in walks, cuddles, ball catches, and treats. Now, with these playful watches, you can keep your puppy with you every minute of the day, even when you have to be apart. Each one features your choice of breed on its face, capturing those distinctive features in a profile silhouette on its face. The clear plastic wristband and housing make the watch easy to match with any outfit. It’s a perfectly fetching accessory for any dog lover. Japanese quartz movement. Watch battery included. Made in Hong Kong.”

I think the Labrador one looks most like Jacob so I got this one!  The clear straps make it so fashionable and easy to wear and the design is beautiful! I got several compliments the first time I wore it. It is extremely lightweight and great for walking the dog and keeping track of time. I don’t want to take my phone with me everywhere but I still want to know what time it is. The face is totally numberless and the second hand is extremely quiet. The straps are clear with a slight purple on the edges which I love.  I also like that it is quite flat so it is easy to wear under long sleeve, jackets and sweaters.

Best of all, it looks just like my dog Jacob!

The Dog Watch is $65 and available on http://www.uncommongoods.com/product/dog-watches

    Car Adventures with @surefitinc

National Dog Day is on August 26 but for dog owners, dog day is everyday!  We were so lucky to get a car for the summer from Tai’s mom and we have been fully taking advantage of it. The seats are leather and we needed something to cover the seats properly.  I have tried different things like fitted bed sheets, towels and canopy type plastic ones and nothing has worked as well as the Sure Fit.

There are quilted padded parts and the straps are sturdy and will not move. In the past I have used ones that have velcro and it never held when the car or the dog moves. The Sure Fit cover is also waterproof!  This is important when it comes to grass stains, mud, water etc… If you take your dog to the beach, camping, hiking or park – protect your car seat with this!  It looks way better than an old bed-sheet and can be machine washable as well.

Extend the practical and stylish solution of waterproof suede to your vehicle to protect upholstery. Laminated backing and bound seaming prevent leaks, while all-over 4” box quilting and lofty 5 oz. polyester fill add cushiony comfort. The bench seat cover extends over the sides and front and is held in place with an adjustable horizontal back strap and vertical sliding straps. The bench seat cover is available in two sizes to fit automobiles, SUVs and vans: Medium (48”-54” seat back) and Large (58”-64” seat back). 100% polyester with 100% polyester fill and 100% polypropylene backing. Machine washable.

8 is the new 5 I’m so Hot Still @Arknaturals Treats

…better crib, better food better automobiles…!  Jacob just turned 8 this year but he is still often mistaken for a puppy by people we meet. His energy level, health and attitude is still playful and happy and I attribute this to his diet and also some great supplements and all natural human-grade food we feed him!

If 60 is the new 40 in human years, then why shouldn’t 15 be the new 10 in dog years.

Recognizing that dogs – like their human companions – are indeed living longer and more fulfilling lives than ever before, a new brand of delicious vet-recommended soft chews called Gray Muzzle has just been introduced specifically to enable senior dogs to retain or recapture levels of heart, joint and cognitive health which they enjoyed in their youth.

The most comprehensive senior-specific remedy products of their kind on the market, Gray Muzzle is the result of years of research into the specific formulations best able to help turn the canine clock back on the physical and mental effects of aging among all breeds and sizes.

Unlike other products labeled “for senior dogs” that in reality feature re-purposed and re-branded non-senior formulations, Gray Muzzle very specifically addresses such vital age-related concerns as joint discomfort, heart function, cellular metabolism, blood flow, and canine cognitive dysfunction (CCD).

A standalone brand created by all-natural pet product leader Ark Naturals, Gray Muzzle is sold exclusively at independent pet and natural product stores, as well as via select etailers, at a MSRP of $13.50. Manufactured entirely in the U.S. in USDA-APHIS approved facilities, all Gray Muzzle products are free of wheat, corn, yeast, and soy, as well as artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

    • Old Dogs! Happy Joints!for improved mobility and flexibility. Ingredients includeGlucosamine HCL (a shellfish source) to help build synovial fluid that creates space between the joints and keep cartilage from rubbing bone on bone; Fish Oil (Omega-3) components to help reduce joint discomfort; and Turmeric, an Ayurvedic herb from India used for thousands of years to help reduce the pain caused by sore joints. Contains 90 bite-size soft chews.

Jacob loved this one!  The chewy pieces were easy for him to eat and he was excited as soon as the package opened. The ingredients make this product great and since we live in a walk-up apartment and duplex, Jacob’s joint health is very important for all the stairs he has to climb up and down everyday!

    • Heart Healthy! Wags Plenty!for improved heart health. Ingredients include Taurine, an amino acid that has beneficial effects on the heart and cardiovascular system; L-Carnitine, another amino acid that benefits the heart and has been shown to have a remarkable effect in the cellular metabolism of dogs; and Egg Albumin, which contains excellent sources of vitamin B6, B12 and riboflavin and helps regulate blood volume. Contains 60 bite-size soft chews.

This heart one he chewed, spit out and ate again. He was not quite sure about this one but I told him it’s yummy you should eat it and he ate it anyway!  Heart health is important for dogs, especially when living in an exciting city like New York 😉

    • Brain’s Best Friend!for improved cognitive function in older dogs evidencing signs of CCD such as confusion, pacing, anxiety, staring into space, or inability to recognize family members. Ingredients include Fish Oil (Omega-3), which helps brain function; Vitamin E to protect cells and prevent free radical damage; Resveratrol, containing antioxidant properties that promote healthy brain activity and function; and Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6), which plays a significant role in making proteins and neurotransmitters that carry signals between the cells more effective. Contains 90 bite-size soft chews.

Jacob was really excited about this one. He gobbled them up in 2 seconds no problem and wanted more!  Since the package advise to feed 2-4 a day for a dog 60 lbs he had his samples this morning and will have to wait until tomorrow for more!

A dog is a forever friend! Make sure you take care of them and give them what they need so they can age gracefully.

Susan Weiss, President of parent company Ark Naturals (and a founding member of the National Animal Supplement Council), said, “As a result of advances in pet care, many dogs are living well past the average life expectancy for their breed. Gray Muzzle was created to benefit those dogs who may chronologically be considered senior, but who aren’t at the end stages of their lives. The response to the brand among retailers and pet owners has been extraordinary, and we’re very proud to be helping dogs and humans alike get the most out of life every single day they’re together.”

About Gray Muzzle – An Ark Naturals Company

    Holiday Toys from @planetdog1997

When you love your dog and your dog loves you, every is like Christmas!  In the beginning the peeing and chewing may slightly outweigh the cute but you stuck with each other and now you are truly a team.  It is that bond, that routine, that repetition that grounds you and make you the only person your dog will trust. This, over time, is what I call true love. Loving and dog and having that kind of pure love come into your life is like going to an oxygen bar and getting PURE oxygen.  It just makes you think clearly, see sharper colors and feel the pulse of life.

Planet Dog creates amazing toys for the dogs we love and if everyday feels like Christmas anyway, why not get some Holiday toys early?

Orbee-Tuff® Bulb with Treat Spot™ – all-purpose toy is doggie-durable, buoyant and minty. The Bulb has a Treat Spot for stuffing, well, stuffing and other great leftovers

This toy is so minty and chewy! I gave this to Pocky and how adorable is she?

The Wishbone plush toy is so cute!  It is soft and has a mesh outer layer so it it won’t get sticky with slobber. The Y shape makes it fun for the dog to toss it, chew it, hold it and shake it.  A great holiday toy that you dog will love all year round.

Out of all his toys, the Wishbone is his fav!  Maybe because it’s the new toy smell.
