So Serious about Pink with @PinkHolidayLipstick

There is an amazing lipstick brand called Pink Holiday. Founder Cara Nigro, who could never find the right shade of pink, decided to create a pink lipstick line with 21 perfect pink shades for all women.

    Seaside Splendor from Pink Holiday

I wish I could stop at 21. I have a little obsession with pink lipsticks and I take it very seriously. After my stint in LA with FIDM beauty program, my collection and obsession became bigger than ever. Discovering a lot of then indie brands like Lime Crime and OCC opened the flood gates.

My recent and newest addition to my ever growing collection is from Pink Holiday.  Unlike the neon vibrant, stain everything and your lips pink – these lipsticks give you just a hint of the lovely shade. Here are Seaside Splendor, Bermuda House and Capri Flower.

They all have just a slight variation but I love them all – especially when you want to find the perfect pink.

The Pink Holiday lipstick line is based on an extensive and yet very wearable palette of pinkshades for every woman, and transcends all ages and backgrounds. Personally influenced by jet-setting experiences and love of all things pink, the collection offers shades of from soft pale pinks, to neutral pinks, to vibrant, high energy pinks.

Pink Holiday contains a high percentage of sugar Esther which helps create a film that avoids the loss of water, aiding in the protection against dryness. Our lipsticks contain moisturizing benefits to improve the condition of the skin barrier. The exclusive lipstick formula contains vegetal derived phospholipid, which improves moisture retention – high in emollient and softening properties. Our shades have been carefully formulated to ensure that they will be complimentary for women of all skin tones. Pink Holiday lipstick formulas contain a gellified system, which offers intensive moisture retention, superior comfort level and elevated adherence. All in such beautiful and glamorous packaging designed by the inimitable Chad Lavigne of Chad Lavigne LLC.

This past weekend, our neighborhood dogs and owners got together for a delightful afternoon and I brought Happy Hips Jerky Bars Salmon & Veggies for the puppy portion of the potluck lunch.  The millisecond I opened the package, 4 sniffy noses got right up to me!

Human grade treats with 85% salmon, 15% good stuff and 0% bad stuff

The box came with an assortment of Dogswell treats, a meat tenderizing hammer, a lime green silicon spatula, beef jerky for humans and a canvas apron. Amazing!

My Solé Bicycle is on the way!  I am so excited. Originally I wanted to get this…
but I decided on the Late Blumer!  It is being assembled at my local bike store, Bike Slug this weekend and will be ready this Wednesday. Can’t wait

    City you live in/rep?
    Venice, California!
If there was a theme song in your life, it would be:
Tame Impala –  Half full glass of wine.  It’s all about positivity and never taking yourself too seriously here at Solé Bicycles.
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who wants to do what you do?
Just fucking go for it.  Don’t look back.  You will have more regrets never taking that leap of faith to try and pursue your dream.  Even if you fail, the knowledge you gained along the way is irreplaceable.
What’s the key to being successful?
See below quote.  These two questions go hand in hand.
     Quote that keeps you motivated:
“A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between he does what he wants to do” – Bob Dylan

How I Survived 2 Weeks Post LASIK

As a lot of you know, I got LASIK a few weeks ago X_X.  I have been wearing glasses since 4th grade and contacts since 7th grade. After 20 years of impaired visions of almost -7.50 I couldn’t even image every seeing clearly. It is crazy. I virtually wear contacts from the moment I wake up to the moment I fall asleep and glasses only in emergency situations. When my sister and best friend decided to do it within the last 6 months, I took the plunge too.

I went to Manhattan LASIK center and they were able to match any Groupon deal or discount I could find. The price depends on your vision and also if you can do bladeless or not based on cornea thickness. I had to do bladeless and the procedure is like this.  No contacts for 3 days prior and you have to use 2 different eye drops. Then on the day, the put some other drop in your eye to numb it. Then you go into a cold room and lie down. The put a blanket on you and give you a teddy bear. You are under the machine first with a little suction cup on your eye it presses down on your eyeball til your vision goes black. Then the laser makes a flap, the Dr lifts that up and then moves you to the second part. This part there is a fork like prong that holds your eye open. The laser corrects your eye by zapping it – there is a small fan that will blow air at you and you will smell kind of burning (like when you run the magic bullet too long and their weird burnt smell). Then the Dr puts the flap back down, puts eye drops in and has tiny little brooms that sweep the water back and forth til the flap is flattened. I imagined it like those brooms they use in curling but really microscopic.  Then they do the same thing to the other eye. All in all it took around 15 mins and I was done.

I had to wear these futuristic goggles and was not allowed to touch my eye or take the subway.

When I got home and the numbness wore off my right eye felt like someone threw sand into it. It was tearing up like crazy and it was really annoying. It hurt and I felt like I was crying even though I wasn’t. I had to put drops in my eye every 2 hours and I could taste it at the back of my throat it was nasty. I took Advil and Nyquill and finally fell asleep. When I woke up I was 60% better than the day before. Same eye drops routine and sunglasses at all times. I could see but it was still uncomfortable. I wasn’t allowed to wear any eye make up and touch my eye or rub it. How annoying.

I wore my OFRA Liquid Lipstick in Hollywood and it made me feel better.

Finally now after 2 weeks I feel normal, I can wear make up and I can SEE!!!  If you want to get LASIK it will change your life!! But you will have to pay a bunch of money and deal with 2 weeks of feeling weird… I am glad I did it but wish someone told me about the aftermath.

Make Up Brushes for Summer from @TheMakeupShow

Besides throwing away your makeup every 6 months, it is really important to clean and replace your makeup brushes  regularly too!  If you don’t use brushes and use your fingers, make sure you wash your hands before and after you do your make up.

Screen Shot 2013-06-01 at 5.29.56 PM

Bdellium Tools Pink Bambu series brushes are professional eco-friendly makeup brushes with all sustainable bamboo handles and all vegan soft synthetic bristles with an anodized aluminum ferrule. Bamboo is one of the most sustainable resources and environmentally sound plants on Earth. Due to its rapid re-growth cycle, it can be harvested with virtually no impact on the environment. All of the soft synthetic filaments used in the Pink Bambu series are not treated with an antibacterial agent. The advantages of synthetic bristles includes less or no hair shedding compared to natural bristles, it is easier to clean and provides a light application. The synthetic bristles are hypoallergenic and 100% cruelty-free.

I first saw these brushes at the Make Up Show NYC and I loved them! They are not too expensive and work really well as beginner make up brushes for professionals or just for everyday use. The bristles are pink and so is the handle. This summer, skip the foundation and use a tinted moisturizer and apply liberally with the 947 small face brush.

These little pastel sponges from Glamour Grip have a lot of angles to help with precision and smooth application. This tool by Graftobian is and hourglass shape for special reason. The sponge is really soft when dry and even soften when moistened with water. You are suppose to use the pointy end around eyes and nose and the rounded end for cheeks and large areas. I feel like I have seen this sponge before in hot pink a few years ago under a different name.

If you want to try a truly innovative sponge, the Magic Touch by Denessa uses air compression to perfect your make up application. They come in a a little tin and they feel almost space like. They are truly magically!  You press it against your skin and it make a little bit of product go a long way. You can use this wet or dry and they are reusable!

If you absolutely cannot part with your brushes, make sure you clean them well. Use the Parian Spirit Professional Brush Cleaner – It contains citrus based spirits that will get all the impurities out.

Looking forward to a beautiful and flawless summer!
