Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics (@ybcosmetics) Product Review
I recently tried out a couple products from Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, which I definitely suggest adding to your “must try” list!
I’m a fan of mineral based makeup because it tends to be gentler on the skin. Youngblood was created by a licensed medical aesthetician, Pauline Youngblood, specifically so that patients would be able to use it on their super-sensitive skin after dermatological procedures. If that isn’t gentle, I don’t know what is!
I tried the Mineral Primer, Liquid Mineral Foundation and Lunar Dust…
MINERAL PRIMER
I love a good primer, but unfortunately, a good primer is often hard to find. Many times, they’re feathery or too thick, and that completely defeats the purpose. However, I’ve used the Youngblood Mineral Primer several times, and each time, it goes on smooth, providing a weightless base for my makeup. My skin can be a bit on the oily side, and this primer keeps my makeup on all day.LIQUID MINERAL FOUNDATION
Just like the Mineral Primer, the Foundation is incredibly lightweight and absorbs very quickly. It goes on evenly, provides natural coverage, and doesn’t wipe off, which is a problem I’ve had with some liquid foundations (another common issue with oily skin). The Deep Sea Hydrating Complex helps hydrates the skin without making is greasy or sticky.
I got the foundation in “Barbados”, which is the darkest shade, however I probably should have gone one shade lighter with “Caribbean”. I was able to wear it for about a week, thanks to the glow I had from my Miami trip, but once my skin settled back into it’s dead-of-winter color, I had to stop using it because it was a bit too dark. No worries–I’ll be able to able to wear it after the next time I get a little sun in my life!
On a related note, it would be great if Youngblood had a better selection of darker colors. With “Barbados” being the darkest shade, many women of color aren’t going to be able to find the correct match.
LUNAR DUST
I love this. The fine, light-reflecting minerals provide a soft, luminous glow. I used “Dusk”, which was the perfect color. Definitely one of the best bronzers I’ve come across.

Bari Beauty – Pure Ice in Risk Taker and Beware Swatches
This is the beginning of my @BariBeauty series of nail polish swatches! Below are pictures of two polishes from their Pure Ice Collection.
Pure Ice in Risk Taker – two coats
Pure Ice in Beware – two coats on top of Risk Taker
I love both of these colors. I actually think Risk Taker is going to be one of my new go-to colors. Both polishes dried quickly and went on very smooth. What I really liked about Beware is that it was smooth to the touch after dried. Lots of glitter polishes leave your nail feeling rough and gritty but this one doesn’t! I don’t think I’ve ever worn a color anything like Risk Taker. It’s like a shimmery charcoal color which I don’t think I’ve really seen before. The closest color I’ve ever owned to it would maybe be Revlon’s Silver Screen, but even the Revlon one wasn’t as dark/slightly brownish.
I’ve got lots more nail polish swatches coming up from Bari Cosmetics so stay tuned 🙂 If you’d like to purchase they’re products, check out their website or connect with them on Twitter!

Hilary Park Jewelry
Stepping into Hilary Park’s jewelry store is like stepping into an enchanted cottage–in the middle of Williamsburg, Brooklyn! Your eyes automatically drift towards the jewelry case in the middle of the store, which contains gorgeous, handmade jewelry in sterling silver and gold, adorned with semi-precious and precious stones.
All of the pieces are handmade by Hilary Park, an exacting artist, with a meticulous attention to detail. Many of the pieces are astrology-inspired.
At Hilary Park’s grand opening, guests sipped zodiac element-inspired cocktails and received detailed readings from an astrologist.
A glimpse into the jewelry case.
I loved these!! (Actually, I loved everything!)
I got to take home one of Hilary’s handmade pendants. I couldn’t have been happier. Thanks Hilary!
The handmade, sterling silver pendant’s centerpiece is a citrine stone, which brings clearness and focus to the wearer. Great for creative types like writers and artists!
If you love these stunning pieces as much as I do, you can visit www.hilarypark.com. Can’t make it to Brooklyn to pick up your favorite piece? Well, you’re in luck, because you can order online!
