Metal Supermarkets, the world’s largest supplier of small-quantity metals, today announced the start of the 10th annual Metal My Way competition, and is delighted to call upon metalworking enthusiasts across the globe to showcase their metallic masterpieces.
Past year’s competitions have seen over 1,000 eye-catching submissions from across North American and the United Kingdom. Projects ranged from small engine models, car restorations, commissioned art to large scale renovations and constructions projects. Past winning entries amazed the judges with innovative metalwork including a polished stainless-steel eagle, a blue heron, a Wheel of Time dagger, and other outstanding works of art.
The limited-time international photo and video submission contest runs from August 1 to August 31, 2024 and is open to both professional and amateur metalworkers. Late August 3rd night, two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Sir Rod Stewart surprised fans with an unforgettable appearance at The Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails, the swanky speakeasy and live music hot spot at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Joined by family and bandmates, the British rock legend celebrated the one-year anniversary of his award-winning Wolfie’s Whisky and the upcoming 200th show and conclusion of his epic 13-year “Rod Stewart – The Hits” residency on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Unsuspecting fans were treated to an impromptu a capella performance of “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You,” and then a sing-along of “Ooh La La” joined by his backup singers, Holly Brewer, Becca Kotte, JoAnne Harper, and Radio XX, an all-star rock band including Ben Carey (formerly of Lifehouse and Savage Garden), Bryce Soderberg (Lifehouse), Toby Rand (Rockstar Supernova finalist), and drummer Al Seratto.
Stewart kicked off the evening by stepping behind the bar alongside his business partner, Duncan Frew, CEO of Wolfie’s Whisky, serving shots of their signature spirit to lucky guests. The rock icon then joined his wife, Penny Lancaster, and his family, including his children Sean, Liam and Renee Stewart, as well Liam’s newlywed wife, Nicole Artukovich, and Frew’s wife, Lauren.
Guests indulged in specialty cocktails crafted with Wolfie’s Whiskey, including the lavish Rockstar Martini, made with Wolfie’s Scotch Whisky, Chambord, blood orange syrup, vanilla syrup, lime juice, and topped with champagne, as well as the hot and spicy Do Ya Think I’m Sexy, a mix of Wolfie’s Scotch Whisky, agave syrup, lime juice, Fire Tincture, mint and jalapeño.
While on stage, Stewart was presented with a cake; an oversized replica of a Wolfie’s Whisky bottle.
