All You Need for Cherry Season

Cherry season is here!  One of the best fruits of summer, I was so excited when I saw cherries for sale at the market this weekend. My grandma has a cherry tree in her yard and every summer we picked them before the birds could eat them all. Cherries, like peaches and apricots have pits in them. This makes them difficult to put in a smoothie, baking recipe or any desserts. I always used raspberries or strawberries as an option in those situations but now I don’t have to!  If you are a cherry love like me, you HAVE to get the CHERRY CHOPPER.

This is a cherry pitter and works the way a hole puncher does. It collects all the pits on the bottom and is the most adorable addition to my kitchen recently.

It is by far the fastest and easiest way to pit cherries. The Cherry Chomper is also dishwasher safe. The key to making this work the best is the place the cherry stem side up and at the center of the device.

If you want to bake but you are way too lazy to get fresh cherries, you can use Cherry Man Maraschino Cherries.  I recently got to try these and they are fantastic!  They are ALL natural and taste different then what you buy in the baking aisle at the supermarket. Cherry aficionados can happily reach into a jar of red jewels with complete abandon knowing the sweet treat is fat-free, gluten-free, sodium-free, kosher, contains no high-fructose corn syrup, and has just two grams of sugar per cherry.

Each jar of Farm to Market Maraschinos™ has a unique QR code that can be scanned to reveal the exact origins of the fruit and the story behind the growers. CherryMan cherries are primarily supplied by family farms in the Northwest corner of Michigan as well as Oregon’s Willamette Valley.  Some of these families have their roots in agriculture dating back to the 1800s and orchard sizes range from less than five acres to more than 200.  So whether you’re mixing up a Manhattan or creating the perfect banana split, these cherries are homegrown in the USA.

I used them to make Almond Cherry bread in muffin tins today. YUM!

Hope you have a cherry filled summer 😀

Natural Nate’s Honey: Raw and Unfiltered Goodness

Created to serve only Mother Nature’s sweetest nectar, Dallas-based Nature Nate’s honey comes from American bees, and is one of the few brands that produces 100% raw, natural and unfiltered honey. Debunking the myth that locally sourced honey will help with allergies, honey experts and customers alike have found that it is actually the pollen content in honey that remedies allergy symptoms (which can only be found in 100% raw, unfiltered honey). NatureNate’s “King Bee” and honey maker himself, Nathan Sheets, promises an undivided commitment to providing the highest quality product to you and your family while also committing to be faithful stewards of its funds.

Every since I got this bottle of honey I have been using it on everything! I put it on roasted sweet potatoes along with a sprinkle of paprika and it was divine.  I also used it in the honey for a feta/honey/date spread which is heavenly! Natural Nate’s honey is easy to use in every single recipe.

    Feta Honey Date Spread

1 cup good quality crumbled feta (4 ounces)
½ cup toasted almonds, coarsely chopped

    Black Bean Rice Salad @Minute_Rice

Growing up in a Chinese household, rice is definitely a staple at every meal!  Since being on my own, I opt for easier cooking items like cheese and crackers and sandwiches instead. But I still love rice. Just want to find a easier and quicker way to incorporate it into my meals. Rice is so versatile and great source of fiber. I feel much fuller eating a meal with rice and it can even be a part of your dessert.

Minute Rice is an innovative brand of meal solutions that provide just that – quick easy meals. Lastnight, along with my fish and veggies – I made the Black Bean Rice Salad in 6 minutes with the help of this recipe on minuterice.com
